POSITION:                             Maintenance Superintendent 

DEPARTMENT:                     Belly Complex 

LOCATION:                           Ottumwa  

SALARY CLASS:                  Exempt

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

• Adheres to Safe Work practices, coordinates responsibilities and oversees the general maintenance, both electrical and mechanical of equipment involved in bacon manufacturing process, including but not limited to, injection, cooking, tempering, molding, slicing and packaging equipment.
• Works closely with Maintenance, Production, Safety and QA to meet day to day goals. Implements schedules, to complete projects on time.
• Works closely with Maintenance Planner to develop and maintain an effective SAP plant maintenance PM program and equipment data base, encompassing all Belly Complex equipment.
• Responsible for the RCA process when downtime results from mechanical or technical defects.
• Assigns work orders or special projects to maintenance supervisors. Fills in during their absence and steps in during the Maintenance Managers absence.
• Participates in the Maintenance department budget process.
• Meets daily with Maintenance and Production Supervisors to review work order assignments and address department issues.
• Provides technical, mechanical, and/or electrical assistance throughout shift.
• Participates in the hiring of maintenance personnel, including hourly, Automation and Supervisors. Manages workforce development including hourly employee training utilizing both Active Pro and Dupont.
• Tends to other needs of Bacon Maintenance Department.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Minimum of high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Technical schooling with mechanical or electrical emphasis helpful.
• Technical schooling in robotics and electronics highly desirable.
• Previous hourly maintenance and maintenance supervisor experience needed.
• Industrial construction experience beneficial.
• Mechanical inclination and knowledge of job specifications required.
• Ability to perform general mathematical calculations.
• Electrical knowledge essential.
