Quality Supervisor
CLASSIFICATION:
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the validating and accurately documenting quality and food safety
attributes of incoming raw materials, in-process and finished product. Certified in
pre and post operational inspection, release and testing, along with full HACCP
certification. Validating and documenting for compliance, GMP’s and food safety
standards in the production environment. Work with other technicians to train on
procedures to ensure they understand specifications of product and set standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
1. Conducts quality assurance testing and verifies and accurately documents
products and raw materials on the plant floor. These may include verifying
and documenting:
a. In-process and finished product quality checks to ensure compliance to
established specifications and temperature requirements.
b. Labels to ensure they meet regulatory requirements including tare
weights, UPC codes, legibility, establishment number, pricing and correct
product identification.
c. Incoming ingredients for compliance to established visual and
temperature requirements.
d. Sell-by and product dates on product runs.
2. Communicates to leads and supervisors when product is out of specification.
3. Assists in validating plant-wide compliance to GMPs and employee safety
rules.
a. Assists leadership in Root Cause Analysis and implements preventative
measures.
4. Trains new team members as needed.
5. Works independently or within a team as needed.
6. Performs detailed inspection, testing and documentation
a. Trained and qualified in pre and post operation activities
b. Trained and qualified in HACCP documentation and activities
7. May assume other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Prefer High School Diploma or equivalent certification
Qualified in Pre and Post Operational activities, and Hazard Analysis and Critical
Control Points (HACCP) programs. SQF, GMP, and HACCP Certified (external
certification body)
Must be able to coach, train, and take corrective action with production
personnel when necessary
Minimum 1 year of experience in food manufacturing/and or quality
Ability to speak, read, write and understand English
Good verbal and written communication skills
Bilingual preferred
Good math skills
Must be well-organized with good attention to detail
Display strong work ethic and positive attitude
Adaptable and dependable with ability to follow direction
Must maintain a helpful and professional attitude and appearance
Ability to work independently or as a team and apply practical understanding
to carry out detailed instruction and communicate findings with plant
leadership and team.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
ACTIVITIES:
HEARING:
Validating manufacturing work on the plant floor, standing for long hours, bending,
stooping, and lifting.
Must be able to hear average or normal conversations to receive information,
occasionally with loud background noise in the working environment.
REPETITIVE MOTION:
VISUAL ABILITIES:
Must be able to frequently and regularly use wrists, hands, and or fingers.
Average, ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents,
products, or operate machinery.
PHYSICAL STRENGTH:
Regularly or frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to work for long hours in a food processing environment, where it is
loud, wet, damp, and cold. Temperatures are frequently below freezing, and
employees are expected to remain in these conditions throughout the workday.
