Role:

 

The accounting analyst position functions as a business support person to the plant and financial management team. The role will be instrumental in bringing analytical analyses to leadership team to enable decisions that directly impact business performance and outcomes. The position supports month-end close and special projects as requested, and works closely with manufacturing to understand issues and how they impact the financial results as well as educate/inform department(s) on cost divers and variances. This position will provide accounting support through review and validation of material transactions and processes to increase the accuracy of our financial statements. This position provides the candidate with opportunities to identify, lead, and drive process improvements, while working in a team environment and interact with multiple functions across the organization.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Establish and monitor internal controls to mitigate financial risks and protect company assets
  • Review daily production reports to identify errors in production reporting and explain standard yield variances
  • Perform Standard Cost Testing for raw material, WIP, packaging, supplies, and ingredients
  • Work cross functionally to drive results; this includes providing training in understanding financial indicators
  • Conduct variance analysis on Production Cost (Actual vs Standard) with histogram, and develop action plans to resolve gaps
  • Reconcile plant inventory balances including outside warehouses
  • Generate maintenance spending reports and review with operations and maintenance teams
  • Perform GR/IR, A/P workflow, works with buyers to resolve pricing discrepancies
  • Support the action plans to deliver fixed & variable cost goals
  • Support the action plans to deliver the daily production lbs.
  • Support the maintenance department on actions to improve storeroom accuracy and accounting for MRO parts and supplies
  • Track and help implement plant cost saving initiative projects
  • Prepare and process assigned daily/monthly journal entries
  • Analyze current and historical trends in key plant performance indicators
  • Provide support to track and reduce plant waste (inedible, give-away, product loss)
  • Perform cost analysis to assist the Plant Manager in operational decision making
  • Support the local plant budgeting process of the fixed and variable expenses
  • Prepare reports of actual vs. budget results for monthly and quarterly presentations
  • Assist with ROI for Plant Capital Expenditures and perform post review analysis
  • Assist Controller with Fixed Asset Accounting
  • Assist Controller with special projects including internal or external audit requests

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field preferred
  • 3+ years of directly related experience required
  • Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to details
  • Very strong in Excel and Power Point
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Action oriented
  • A team player with a positive, can do attitude and agility to flex multiple work streams fluidly
