OPERATIONS MANAGER $117K-$150K
Description
The Operations Manager will focus on the following essential duties and responsibilities:
- Analyze processes through statistical process controls and capability analysis to lead continuous improvement projects (10%)
- Process capability study to reduce variances in bacon processing and ensure 99.5% processing yield and 85% slicing yield.
- Implement steady state manufacturing operations to ensure optimized process and product flow across the plant and reduce downtime (15%)
- Lead maintenance team to centerline equipment to ensure smooth daily startup and reduce operational and mechanical downtime
- Analyze and implement data models from bacon and lunch meat processes to ensure consistent operations
- Drive Lean Six Sigma methodology to reduce manufacturing waste & cost and enhance operational & labor efficiency (20%)
- Conduct time studies to ensure maximum labor efficiency
- Study set up and teardown operations to ensure timely startup and accurate crewing for all processes
- Track waste in processes to implement 5S ideology and eliminate waste in processes
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to minimize process variance and achieve six sigma stability in process yields and throughput (5%)
- Perform engineering capacity studies to drive CAPEX projects and continuous improvement at the facility (5%)
- Work with the management team to ensure Management of Change (MOC) process is performed for all CAPEX projects
- Perform Root Cause Analysis and Kaizen to identify and correct manufacturing process defects and operational efficiency (15%)
- Lead cross functional RCA for safety opportunities, major quality event or operational loss at the facility
- Responsible for proactively working with facility management to identify and assess KPI gaps (5%)
- Assess biological reactions and modeling with all proteins to ensure USDA compliance and maintain higher standards of food and people safety (5%)
- Perform pathogen modeling to identify critical process deviations and failures to ensure food safety compliance for all customers
- Perform monthly safety inspections and hold safety meetings to instill a culture of food and human safety
- Identify manning needs based on labor studies to ensure standard crewing is met and make hiring decisions (5%)
- Track sales and operational planning to ensure customer adherence meets goal and plant scheduling is being optimized (5%)
- Track meat, packaging and ingredient variances to reduce COGS and ensure a positive plant P&L (5%)
- Develop the annual budget for the plant (5%)
Requirements:
Education:
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field from an accredited college or university required
Experience:
· Minimum 10 years background experience in a packing plant with knowledge of all areas preferred
· Minimum 5 years managing supervisors or managers in different areas preferred
- Must have strong knowledge and experience with Lean principles and related process flow using six sigma and lean principles
- Experience with manufacturing process improvement
Special Skills:
· Computer skills, Microsoft excel at an intermediate level or better
· Ability to read production reports
· Knowledge of all operations within the plant
· Management training
· Interpersonal communication skills
· Technical Math skills
· Bilingual important, but not mandatory

· Base salary range of $117K-$150K
· Incentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program;
