2nd Shift Assistant Safety Manager
Schedule:
  • 2nd Shift (hours and schedule may vary based on business needs)
  • Flexibility required as needed to support operations and emergencies
Position Summary
The 2nd Shift Assistant Safety Manager assists in maintaining a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment by supporting all safety, environmental, and regulatory programs. This position works closely with plant leadership, regulatory agencies, and employees to ensure compliance with safety standards and continuous improvement of safety initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and support compliance with external regulatory agencies, including:
    • OSHA
    • EPA
    • MPCA
    • Fire Department
    • Insurance/Loss Control
    • State Health Agencies
    • Corporate Safety Requirements
  • Assist with the review and development of new processes and safety procedures.
  • Manage, update, and implement all JBS Safety Compliance Programs.
  • Participate in PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) audits and development of new requirements.
  • Conduct hazard evaluations and assist with implementing corrective actions and control measures.
  • Review and update applicable OSHA standards and compliance programs.
  • Perform safety, health, ergonomic, and environmental audits.
  • Support the development and implementation of the Emergency Action Plan (EAP).
  • Conduct safety, health, ergonomic, and environmental training as assigned.
  • Participate in and support safety committee activities.
  • Manage contractor safety compliance and contractor onboarding requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Previous safety experience
  • Bachelor's degree in safety, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and people-management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to conduct training sessions and present information effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good attendance record- Internal applicants, 2 points or less. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The Applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits: 

Benefits: 

  • Base Salary: $58,015/yr Min - $70,488/yr Mid
  • Health, Dental, Vision coverage begins after 60 days of employment  
  • Paid Time off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays  
  • 401(k): company match beings after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule 
  • Incentive pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and condition of the incentive program
