Requirements for this position:
 
  • Partner should be able to understand and communicate effectively, be able to stand for a long period of time, and lift at least 50 lbs.  
  • Must be able to read and write  
  • Must be able to work with corrosive chemicals and wet and harsh environment 
  • Must be capable of doing all jobs associated within the Wastewater/Offal Department. 
 
JOB DUTIES
  • At the beginning of each shift, inspect all Offal employees for proper PPE's. 
  •  At beginning of shift make up a schedule listing what type (Meat, feathers, SPN, blood) and time each load will be loaded.
  •  Call the truck dispatcher and give them the schedule for loads to be picked up. (Time and what type of load)
  • Check to insure that the chemical room attendant has the correct settings required for that day’s operation of all chemical dosing pumps.
  • Visually inspect that the chemical totes and tanks are full and operational.
  • Visually inspect wet well to insure that the operating level is correct. Visually inspect the DAF pumps and DAF units for correct operation. In the event that any equipment is not operating or is making an unusual sound notify supervisor and/or maintenance if cannot be corrected.
  • Visually .inspect that the truck spotter has placed the SPN tanks, blood tanker, meat, and feather trailers under correct augers. .
  • Visually check to insure that the screening room attendant has started up and that all the equipment and augers are operating. In the event that the equipment and/or augers are not operating or are making an unusual sound notify supervisor and/or maintenance if cannot be corrected.
  • Observe the loading of all trailers and tankers during the shift to insure operations are not over loading trailers and that all trailers are well drained and SPN tankers are decanted.
  •  Make sure all API drivers weigh out and record gross pounds: time, date, product, trailer number, and name of driver of each load.  
  • All log sheets must be maintained.
  • Lead, instruct, and train all new and existing employees in the Offal department. .
  • Visually inspect all chemical pumps, meters, and controllers.
  • Operate and maintain all equipment in the screening process room daily/weekly.
  • Fill and mix chemicals in tanks.
  • Make adjustments on equipment as needed to operate the treatment process properly
  • Operate tractor-trailer and forklift.
  • Maintain daily records of job activities, chemical usage, tanker and trailer rotations.
  • Maintain Daily housekeeping.
  • Collect and analyze water samples.
  • May be required to perform other job duties assigned by the supervisor.
  • Must be willing to be GA Waste Water Certified.
  • Repeat any steps listed above as required and necessary to accomplish the task assigned.
