This Quality Assurance & Food Safety Specialist Responsible for leading and directing all company food safety and quality assurance activities, including R&D, Production, Operations, product enhancements, etc..

He/She will be responsible for developing and implementing quality and food safety systems to ensure operational compliance to internal and external regulations. As an R&D and Production based resource, this position requires working closely with manufacturing, supply chain, global quality & food safety functions and regulatory affairs to identify opportunities to improve product quality, systems and safety.




·         Develop a strategic plan for food safety and product quality (from raw materials to finished food products, including in-store handling and disposition of finished products).

·         Lead & direct all regulatory activities related to food safety and quality (HACCP, USDA, GMP, SQF, Animal Well fare…). Responsible for HACCP

·         Lead plant microbiology testing program and reporting

·         Provide technical expertise for internal standards regarding microbiological, physical, nutritional, and sensorial attributes of ingredients and products.

·         Participate in Risk Assessment studies for all new ingredients, raw materials, equipment and processes. 

·         Develop technical specifications systems related to food safety.

·         Verify and release new ingredients & recipes (physical, microbiological, sensory, nutrition) in compliance with products and processes specifications.

·         Maintain recipes database system. Verify and approve new recipe accuracy and compliance prior to implementation. 

·         Analyze food safety and quality data and prepare reports (incl. consumer feedback and complaints, ingredients, finished products, products & processes specifications).

·         Direct and manage suppliers’ food safety and quality practices (facilitate site of co-manufacturers and vendors for compliance). Ensure that all processes related documentation and programs are managed and maintained.

·         Provide quality and food safety systems training to colleagues.




·         Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Engineering, Chemistry, or equivalent degree.

·         Experience in an R&D and Manufacturing environment.

·         Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP's), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point Systems (HACCP), ISO, Regulatory Guidelines, Sensory, Microbiology.


·         5+ years of experience in a Quality, Food Safety, and Regulatory area. Meat and poultry industry preferred.

·         Certified in HACCP and SQF, Global Food Safety Initiative (BRC, IFS, FSSC, etc).

·         Working knowledge of food processing and packaging in Food manufacturing industry.



·         Proven application of laboratory methodologies, statistics, and quality tools

·         Excellent analytical and problem solving skills to identify root cause and define corrective actions.

·         Strong project management and planning skills with ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously.

·         Strong decision making skills

·         Good prioritization skills.

·         Self-motivated and organized, with a strong attention to details and accuracy

·         Ability to work independently as well as within a team setting.

·         Strong oral, listening, and written communication skills

·         Ability to influence and communicate a clear quality program and ensure execution of food safety systems

·         Ability to interact and communicate effectively with regulatory agency personnel and 3rd party suppliers

·         Proficiency in all aspects of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, Power Point)

·          Ability to work in a Meat factory environment

·         Travel up to 30% of time
