Purpose and Scope/General Summary: We are looking for a Blue Wring A shift Supervisor for JBS Tannery a ROLE that reports directly to the General Foreman of the area and has a primary responsibility for the direction of the workforce to achieve all safety, quality, cost and operational goals as set forth by facility management.

The JBS Tannery team is seeking a supervisor to work in the Blue Wring section of the Tannery.  This role will be based at our Tannery Plant in Cactus, Texas. The Supervisor will be part of a team of about 10-12 employees located in Cactus. The ideal candidate will be very detail oriented and thrive on supporting a busy, fast-paced team. This role offers excellent growth potential! 

 
Responsibilities:
  • Meet and exceed production goals set forth by plant management.
  • Responsible for minimizing down time 
  • Responsible for daily checks of the machines in the department (Blue Wring Machine).
  • Develop new machine operators and stackers with quality and safety behaviors to operate machine.
  • Responsible to check, guarantee a good use and guarantee safety condition of the forklift machine in the department thru checklist and visual check.
  • Manage employees to unload drums on time to improve productivity
  • Report to process area when identify quality/technical opportunities with hides produced.
  • Improve employee safety by identifying hazards and problem shooting solutions.
  • Proactively looks for ways to reduce cost
  • Be responsible of substandard generation, actions to reduce and grade hides correctly
  •  Look for continuous improvement in operating processes, procedures and encourages team member’s ownership of all processes
  • Manages hourly employee’s timecards, vacation requests and schedules ensuring accurate pay
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing employees on the use of all control points, equipment and resources
  • Be responsible to asset a task for all employees in any moment of downtime, giving priority to finish side tasks and helping other areas.
  • To train employees into operational procedures
  • To define processes and methods, implementing preventives & correctives productions actions
Qualifications:
  • High School Graduate or GED equivalent (preferred but not required)
  • 2 years proven supervisory experience in the industry
  • Must be able to speak and write English, Bilingual skills helpful   
  • Physical demands  
  • Must be able to Travel
  • Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully, both written and verbally
  • Capable of independent decision making
  • Ability to be responsible for reporting to maintenance any issues with the area machines
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills

  • Able to quickly and effectively adapt to new and changing situations

  • Basic computer knowledge required

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:
  • Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
  • Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;
  • 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;
  • Base salary range of $70,000 to $80,000
  • Incentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s quarterly bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program; and
