Reporting to: Kill Floor General Foreman
Job code: 10300
Duties and Responsibilities, but not limited to: Run knocking gun and be qualified in proper humane handling; needs to make sure that the proper procedures are followed at all times. Must be able to identify if an animal has any sensibility immediately following knocking.
Requirements:
- Will need to attend monthly training sessions and meet minimum expectations of the training sessions.
- Have the knowledge of maintaining the knocking gun
- Audit the knocking gun
- Accuracy in operating the Head Restraining
- Accuracy in the knocking position
- Accuracy on the amount of cattle coming into the knocking box
- Accuracy when opening the knocking box gate to the shacklers
- When the cattle are knocked, the Knocker needs to keep an eye on the stunned animal for sensibility; if signs of sensibility are shown, the employee Touch of the Eye needs to be notified right away.
- The knocker needs to sound the buzzer to alert maintenance if the landing hoist is malfunctioning or jammed.
- Must be able to work in an extremely hot environment in an enclosed space surrounded by heavy working machinery
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to work extended hours and some Saturdays
