General Summary:

The Supervisor Trainee under the direction of the department superintendent will ensure production guidelines are being met according to customer standard. The individual will also be responsible for supervising hourly employees on an assigned shift, line/department. Qualified candidates must have the ability to problem solve and have the ability to learn the production process. This Trainee role is designed to be a "fast-track" into supervisor roles in the facility.

  • Go through a 13 week training program in which you will learn how to manage a production line and/or department. 
  • Maintain safety/ergonomic programs to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Train employees to ensure safe operating procedures are followed.
  • Maintain desired product quality and safety – Maintain adequate knowledge of product and equipment to ensure ability to direct employees to perform the job properly.
  • Monitor daily to ensure HACCP and USDA standards are being met.
  • Make corrective action where necessary.
  • Maintain a high standard of employee relations. Periodically review with all employees the
  • company policies and procedures. Conduct monthly line meetings to address questions and concerns. Walk the floor daily to address immediate questions and concerns.
  • Maintain or exceed goals on yields and efficiencies – work weekly with Operations and Managers and/or supervisors to become familiar with yields and variances, methods of calculations, typical problem areas, and methods of corrections and improvement.
  • Communicate with employees daily to improve engagement and discuss work assignments.
  • Strive for continuous improvement of KPIs.                           
  • Keep track of crewing and make necessary moves in order to ensure daily goals are being met. 
  • Take necessary steps to ensure downtime is maintained at the lowest possible level.
  • Trace and analyze key product result measures for improvement opportunities.

  • Associates’s degree from a college or university; and/or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • A degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, Food Science, Manufacturing, and other related fields preferred. 
  • A certification in Lean Six Sigma or other related areas is a plus. 
  • Ability to learn or have knowledge of SAP, Internet, Spreadsheet, Word and Order processing, and Inventory software.
  • Sufficient knowledge of different beef products is a plus.
  • General understanding of manufacturing process. Understanding of yields and efficiencies is a plus.
  • Ability to work with a diverse workforce.
  •  Bi-Lingual a plus.
  • Must be able to work long hours (10-12 hours or more). Possibly 6 to 7 days per week during peak times.
