Position Title: Assistant Safety Manager 
Reports to: Safety Manager
Work Site County/ies: Brown and Green Bay

Shift/Work Days: Day Shift

All regulatory compliance for safety in regard to OSHA. 

Job Description:
• Maintains Compliance Programs, files and records in accordance with company and government regulations.
• May need to aid in training Authorized (qualified) and Affected Safety classes
• Corrects working conditions, using knowledge of industrial processes, mechanics, psychology, and safety standards, develops loss control programs; and devises methods to evaluate safety programs.
• Responsible for and makes recommendations for compliance with federal and state regulations.
• May be asked to escort employees of all agencies conducting safety, fire and physical security audits of the facility.
• Assesses new developments in the health and safety field to benefit the plant.
• Keeps apprised of developments in federal and state safety laws likely to affect the company.
• Promotes and encourages participation in safety, health and environmental programs.
• Conduct chemical sampling, heat and noise surveys
• Inspects all operations being performed on a daily basis, such as production, plant maintenance, and storage of material, for compliance with company.
• Assist supervisors conducts investigations on injury accidents and near miss incidents during corresponding shift and report findings to Safety Manager
• Conducts spot checks (verifications) on Supervisor PPE inspections, fire extinguishers; Emergency Eye wash and showers, Emergency Lights/Exits inspect emergency equipment (Haz-mat), and chemical storage.
• Conducts or organizes inspections on emergency equipment (Haz-mat), and chemical storage.
• Writes reports implementing the safety program, trains employees, inspects the facility for adequate fire protection, and ensures that all equipment is in good working condition
• Performs other duties or tasks as needed or assigned by the Safety & Health Manager

Working Conditions:
• Large amount of walking, stair climbing required.
• Noise and temperature levels vary depending on which area of the plant manager is located.
• Employee will typically work 50-55 hours per week M-F with some Saturday work if necessary.


Experience / Qualifications:
Minimum 4 years safety experience, preferably within food processing industry.
CPR/First Aid Training.
OSHA Training Courses.
Program, planning and evaluation techniques.
Strong computer skills.
Strong written, verbal, analytical, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
Bilingual communication is important, but not necessary as long as a translator is present.
Microsoft Office proficient
