Falkville Feed Mill Maintenance
Description
The primary responsibility of this position is to maintain, repair and / or replace parts of machinery as discovered during PM’s or in case of breakdowns during operation to keep the Feed Mill operating at maximum capacity.
General Responsibilities:
- The feed mill maintenance mechanic must be able to perform preventative maintenance on feed mill related equipment, as well as repair and install equipment as necessary.
- Maintenance mechanics must be able to detect potential mechanical and electrical problems, maintain the required written records including work performed, corrective actions, and installed replacement parts.
- Maintenance mechanics must work in compliance with all Company policies, Local, State, and Federal policies, Laws, and Regulations.
- Interpret drawings of equipment in order to properly adjust, maintain or repair machinery.
- Interpret equipment manuals and establish preventative maintenance programs according to the manufacturers recommendations.
Skills Required:
Must be familiar with and demonstrate the ability to perform maintenance duties related to the following areas;
- Single and 3 Phase Motors: Circuitry and Troubleshooting
- Industrial Plumbing: Fittings, gauges, pumps, flows and valves
- Power Transmissions: Chains, sprockets, bearings and couplings
- Feed Milling Equipment: Grain elevators, spouting, valves, drag and auger conveyors
- High Pressure Boiler Operations
- Boiler Feed Water Systems and Water Treatment
- Welding and Cutting: Serviceable welds, cutting and ability to identify various steel
- Fabrication using various metals
Physical Demands:
- Dusty Environment and Harsh Weather Exposure.
- Climbing and Elevated Work Areas.
- This position operates inside and outside in extreme hot and cold temperatures.
- This position involves lifting in excess of 55 lbs., sweeping, shoveling and
climbing stairs and ladders.
- This position involves working off platforms and catwalks in excess of 100 feet above ground level.
- This position, on occasion, requires long and continuous hours in a dusty environment. Must be physically able to wear and perform essential duties while wearing a full-face respirator.
Additional Requirements:
- All maintenance employees must maintain a working telephone at their residence.
- Maintenance employees may be called in after regular work hours to make repairs or assist with repair of mill breakdowns.
- Maintenance employees must be available to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as needed to perform scheduled and unscheduled repairs.
Educational Requirement:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
Minimum 1-2 years industrial maintenance experience
Technical school preferred.
