Position Summary:   In two - four sentences, what are the end results or purpose of this job?


Assists the Maintenance Team on the assigned shift in scheduling and performing refrigeration maintenance, installation, and repairs to equipment to ensure that production plans are accomplished.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities: List from most important to least important


Duties include, but are not limited to: Managing a Refrigeration Team, Monitoring engine room compressors, receivers and related equipment.  Repairing equipment, maintaining all roof top units including valuing repair, belts, pulleys, motors and filters.  Monitoring all freezers and coolers.  Maintaining flow-thru freezers, which include curtains, doors, and blower systems, Employee time sheets, Disciplinary Process, Evaluation Processes, Assists on special projects and installations within and outside of own department. 



Supervisory Elements: Quantify and describe briefly (direct, hire, terminate, appraise, recommend, etc)

Will Supervise a Team of Refrigeration Mechanics and assist with the Supervison of Maintenance Mechanics

Decision Making Authority: Describe with examples and estimate of frequency


Must use training and skills to work with or without direct supervision.

Customer Focus:

Internal:  Partners must be able to work in a cooperative manner with members of the Maintenance Department as well as all hourly and managerial partners at this facility and sister plants

                                                                                     External:  Vendors, parts suppliers, etc. 






Difficulty of Duties:  Must successfully complete a  probationary period with scheduled training and evaluations to confirm adequate knowledge of maintenance refrigeration work requirements.

Must be able to lift up 40 – 50 pounds.

Responsibility for Confidential Information:   Must keep all proprietary information confidential

Education: High School or GED preferred.

Work Experience:   A strong refrigeration-mechanical-electrical background is preferred.

Technical Skills:   

Language Skills:  Must possess the ability to communicate and/or read and understand documents such as maintenance / electrician/refrigeration procedures, safety rules, work rules, HACCP regulations, policy and/or procedure manuals. Ability to read and speak to understand maintenance and equipment manuals and to communicate equipment problems.


Math Skills:  Must have strong math skills

Reasoning Ability: 

  • Must possess the ability to understand and follow Maintenance / Electrical/Refrigeration Procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP regulations, safety requirements, work rules and all work related procedures.
