A Reliability Maintenance Technician ensures that production equipment in a meat processing facility operates safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime. The role focuses heavily on preventive and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement to support high‑volume, cold‑environment food manufacturing.
Equipment Maintenance & Repair
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on conveyors, grinders, slicers, packaging machines, refrigeration systems, and hydraulic/pneumatic equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and automation issues to minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Calibrate and maintain sensors, motors, gearboxes, and control systems.
  • Use reliability tools (RCM, RCA, vibration analysis, thermal imaging) to identify failure patterns.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to increase equipment uptime and reduce maintenance costs.
  • Record all maintenance activities in the plant’s CMMS system.
  • Maintain accurate logs of parts usage, work orders, and equipment history.
  • Assist in planning scheduled downtime and maintenance windows.
  • Work closely with production supervisors, sanitation teams, and engineering staff.
  • Train operators on basic equipment care and early detection of issues.
  • Participate in cross‑functional reliability meetings.

Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic troubleshooting ability.
  • Experience with sensors, and automated production lines.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
 
Education & Experience
  • Technical degree or certification in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or related field.
  • 2–5 years of maintenance experience in food processing or manufacturing preferred.
  • Reliability certifications (CMRT, CMRP) are a plus.
  • Computer skills and knowledge  
  • Can perform the functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation

  • Work 40+ hours per week on production floor, including weekend work and rotating shifts as needed.

  • The schedule for this position is typically Mon - Fri. Weekend work required as scheduled. During Fall Season, Saturdays are typically scheduled.
  • Possible exposure to slippery floors, extreme temperature variations, loud noise, chemicals, sharp objectives (knives), machinery, and vehicles.
