Corporate Safety Director
Purpose and Scope/General Summary: We are looking for a Corporate Safety Director to join us at JBS. This individual will be responsible for leading, developing, and implementing the health and safety programs for our Pork division. This position is based at our Corporate office in Greeley, Colorado, or at one of our 5 Pork Manufacturing Plants.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and monitor compliance with corporate safety and health processes.
- Participate in the development of enterprise-wide strategy development, implementation, and oversight.
- Assess risk areas and direct Corporate Safety Managers to ensure overall compliance with OSHA, DOT and other applicable regulations, including state-specific regulatory programs. Ensure Corporate Safety Managers conduct appropriate follow-up.
- Assist in implementation of security policies, procedures, and departments.
- Support Annual SMS Facility Audits revision, review, and process.
- Compile enterprise-wide SMS Audit results and findings.
- Follow up on noted SMS Audit items and work with the facility on process to ensure compliance.
- Develop, support, and execute processes to reduce partner injury and illness rates.
- Track metrics and drive Health & Safety improvement and performance in the organization.
- Identify culture focused trainings, processes, and procedures with the goal of injury prevention.
- Subject Matter Expert regarding various Safety regulations and OSHA interaction.
- Provide direct Safety support to facilities across the Business Unit.
- Partner with Business Unit Heads of Safety regarding various enterprise-wide initiatives, programs, strategies, and similar actions.
- Support of various crisis management activities.
- Management of communication/follow up pertaining to Safety, Health, and Emergency Response Programs/Policies/Procedures.
- Effectively lead and develop Safety Managers.
- Conduct Safety/Health training as identified and required.
- Support facilities with individual needs to improve safety metrics as identified.
- Work with safety managers to improve their operational safety.
- Conduct onsite workplace inspections to identify workplace hazards.
- Assist with new process reviews and development.
- Identify and support new safety technology development.
- Participate in PPE (personal protection equipment) auditing and development of new requirements as well as working with vendors on the forefront of future PPE designs and technology.
- Participate in new program development.
- Aid the facilities in the hazard evaluation and control effort.
- Review and update of all pertaining standards.
- Availability outside of normal business hours will be required.
- Analytic ability and inductive interpretation are required to comprehensively adapt policies, procedures, and methods to correspond to unusual or complex situations.
- Routine exposures to significant levels of unpleasant heat, cold, moisture, and air conditions. May involve exposure to chemical substances and risks of minor nature cuts, bruises, and burns.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- 5-7 years of experience in safety and health in the food industry.
- Extensive safety and health and a minimum of 2 years management experience.
- Advanced safety and health skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA standards and Workers Compensation Laws.
- Experience supporting occupational health, workers compensation, and security preferred.
- Occupational safety experience in manufacturing, food processing, or similar industry preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must be willing to travel minimum 50% of the time overnight.

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:
- Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
- Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;
- 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;
- Base salary range of $145,000-$165,000;
- Incentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program; and
