We are building our team and looking for talented and driven professionals for a National Accounts Director role based in Lafayette, CO who will help us create the best plant-based protein company in the world.


Planterra Foods is seeking a Retail National Accounts Director. The National Accounts Director will be our sales leader responsible for multiple National Accounts with goal of aggressively growing each account. They will own and manage the National Account portfolio by developing and delivering annual sales plans to customers. The Director must understand the impact of sales and financial decisions on the company and the national account’s P&L. Cultivate and maintain effective business relationships with executive decision makers in large/national accounts and build strong relationships at National Accounts cross functionally including culinary, R&D, Purchasing, corporate leadership etc.


  • Develop conceptual business-building propositions that add value to customers beyond a Product and a Price
  • Differentiate Planterra from competitors by being viewed as channel expert and consultant
  • Collaborate with marketing resources and the sales leadership team to define overall sales strategy, and to develop solutions responsive to the National Account's business
  • Apply research insights and trends and collaborate with Marketing/R&D to provide compelling solutions based on the company's business strengths
  • Responsible for sales effectiveness and the quality of account and customer contacts and relationships
  • Supports and contributes to the effective management of product inventory as assigned
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with other members of Planterra’s team
  • Conduct and/or coordinate customer reviews, presentations and customer visits as well as Broker management and engagement
  • Monitor accruals and rebates with customers within the assigned region
  • Assure that market intelligence is received and submitted to the Marketing and Margin Management departments, for analysis in a timely manner
  • Develop promotional plans for target customer, including requesting trade funding / price deviations / etc. that will return satisfactory ROI
  • Contribute to New Product opportunity identification for target accounts
  • Product updates to Sales leadership on opportunities and issues
  • Forecast significant volume increases or decreases to sales leadership and demand planning
  • Must actively engage in the weekly sales pipeline process and leverage account planning



  • BS/BA degree preferred
  • 5+ years of top level sales experience in the food industry calling on key customers such as Kroger, Walmart, Target, Albertson’s
  • Prior management experience and the proven ability to lead a successful business unit and its strategy
  • Excellent verbal communication, written communication and presentation skills
  • Professional interpersonal skills to interact with diverse groups of individuals within and outside of the company
  • Detail Oriented
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills required, as well as the ability to assimilate to additional company computer systems
  • Ability to travel nationally approximately 25%-50% of the time
