This position is responsible for maintaining specifications, USDA labeling and using regulatory knowledge to ensure product meets customer and USDA requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the internal labeling approval process & submit labels to USDA for approval
  • Complete USDA documentation paperwork for plants
  • Manage the internal specification process and review and approve specifications
  • Manage maintenance of specifications in the SAP PLM database or other databases as needed
  • Collaborate with all business segments, customers, suppliers and the USDA.
  • Request and maintain current supplier documents. Keep them posted on the QA portal so they are readily available to our facilities for their auditing needs.
  • Collaborate with R&D developers to align on product specification shelf life
  • Provide information for and respond to customer/consumer contacts & complaints
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science, Meat Science, Food Science or other related field minimum requirement.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of food/meat industry experience, preferably in a food safety and/or quality role; Previous USDA labeling experience highly desired
  • Intermediate to Expert knowledge of USDA regulations and labeling
  • Experience with reviewing and editing product specifications
  • Strong organizational and accuracy skills.
  • Self-starter and highly motivated
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Office applications, Power Point, Excel and Word.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new computer systems
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • As a salaried position with the company, you may be required to travel at some point to other facilities, to attend Company events, or as a representative of the Company in other situations. Unless otherwise specified in this posting, the amount of travel may vary and the most qualified candidate must be willing and able to travel as business needs dictate.

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:

  • Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
  • Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;
  • 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;
  • Base salary range of $72,000 - $84,000; and
  • This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program;

This compensation range is specific to the State of Colorado and takes into account various factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to a candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiencies for the role.
