QA Director-Pork

 

Purpose and Scope/General Summary: The QA Director will lead aspects of quality, food safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across the Pork business unit.  This person will be responsible for developing and executing enterprise-wide quality and food safety strategies that ensure regulatory compliance, protect the company brand, and drive operational excellence. This person will serve as one of the senior quality leaders, partnering closely with Operations, Engineering, R&D, Supply Chain, Sales, and Executive Leadership to establish and maintain best-in-class food safety and quality programs.

 

Responsibilities:

Leadership

  • Develop and execute the strategic vision and roadmap for Food Safety and Quality Assurance
  • Partner with leadership to align quality and food safety initiatives with overall business objectives
  • Provide leadership and direction for cross-functional initiatives involving Operations, Engineering, R&D, Procurement, and Supply Chain
  • Serve as subject matter expert on food safety and quality matters

Quality Assurance Management

  • Establish, maintain, and continuously improve quality systems, product specifications, standards, and procedures
  • Oversee inspection, sampling, analytical testing, and verification programs to ensure compliance with company, regulatory, and customer requirements.

Food Safety and Regulatory

  • Assist in the development and ongoing enhancement of food safety programs: HACCP, SSOP, GMP’s, EMP’s, BRC
  • Ensure compliance with USDA, customer, and other applicable regulatory requirements
  • Maintain readiness for regulatory, customer, and third-party audits across facilities
  • Lead responses to food safety incidents, product quality concerns, recalls, and crisis management activities when necessary

External Relations and Continuous Improvement

  • Utilize data analytics and trend analysis to identify opportunities for quality, food safety, and operational improvements
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing defects, improving process control, and strengthening food safety culture
  • Stay current on emerging regulations, technologies, industry trends, and best practices to continuously evolve quality systems and programs
  • Maintain productive relationships with key customers, suppliers, and regulatory officials
  • Be prepared to represent JBS Pork at industry events, professional organizations, customer engagements, and Pork University as needed

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in a food industry-based program or related discipline preferred.
  • 5+ Years of related professional experience within food industry or packaging and labeling experience required. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and SAP preferred.
  • Knowledge of USDA and/or FDA preferred.
  • Strong accuracy and attention to detail required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and external vendors / customers.
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Can perform the functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of sound data management
  • Experience in a plant environment, preferably in the pork industry, required.
  • As a salaried position with the company, you may be required to travel at some point to other facilities, to attend Company events, or as a representative of the Company in other situations. The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:

  • Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
  • Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;
  • 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;
  • Base salary range of $125,000-$155,000
  • Incentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program; and

The posted salary range represents the Company’s good faith estimate of the compensation that the Company reasonably expects to pay for this role at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, qualifications, tenure, internal equity, market data, and may vary accordingly.
