Required:
- Union and Contract Experience
- Knowledge of employment laws (FMLA, ADA, EEO, etc)
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong people skills (conflict resolution, patience, positive attitude)
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to handle extremely fast-paced work environment and high workload
- Experience leading and managing people
- Employment Relations experience (hiring, terminating, workplace investigations, etc)
Preferred:
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field
- Ability to understand union contract
- Experience with SAP and Kronos applications
- Bilingual preferred
WORK CONDITIONS
- Work 45+ hours per week in office environment, primarily during day shift, with ability to work outside normal business hours as needed. Position will visit production environments on a regular daily basis.
- Exposure to slippery floors, extreme temperature variations, loud noise, chemicals, sharp objects (knives), machinery, and vehicles
Main accountabilities:
- Handle employment and union relation issues by coaching and disciplining employees, scheduling management meetings with employees and/or union, and investigating employee complaints.
- Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resources federal and state requirements by maintaining records, conducting workplace investigations, representing the organization at hearings.
- Manage HR staff by ensuring staff is meeting deadlines, counseling and disciplining employees, planning, monitoring and appraising job result. Train new HR employees.
- Assist in FMLA, payroll, attendance, unemployment, and other HR functions as needed.
- Coordinate management training in terminations, EEO, sexual harassment, wage and hour, and other HR
- Respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
- Establish and maintain department records and reports. Participate in administrative staff meetings and attend other meetings.
- Stay current on professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies.
- Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
