PRODUCTION GENERAL FOREMAN

DESCRIPTION

  • Monitor all Production operations to maximize value and increase productivity.
  • Supervise/ Manage Production Departments.
  • Effectively supervise Operations Supervisors.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers to maintain and increase satisfaction and product knowledge.
  • Perform various duties as assigned.
  • Direct supervisors with respect to production volume, quality, cost, and meeting production schedules and delivery dates.
  • Ensure adherence to procedures that promote the health and welfare of all employees in the departments.
  • Train and develop supervisors to provide management depth and develop a consciousness of the need for team work to attain department objectives.
  • Review daily production schedule for the department to plan work and personnel assignments; coordinate extra work to be accomplished.
  • Monitor and confirm that machinery, equipment, and facilities are properly maintained and sanitized for efficient production.
  • With appropriate management personnel, study operations where cost standards are not being met to determine causes and apply corrective measures.
  • Arrange to have appropriate production records prepared and maintained.
  • Maintain good employee relations and adherence to labor contract provisions, take proper and judicious disciplinary measures when required, and assist supervisors in handling grievances.
  • Assure efficient and economical utilization of materials, improvement of methods, and elimination of wasteful practices within the department.
  • In concert with individual supervisors, establish accountabilities and goals used for performance evaluation.
  • Attend and schedule appropriate meetings.
  • Perform various other duties as needed.

 

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing the beef fabrication operations of the plant for the assigned area
  • Coordinate with sanitation to meet USDA standards.
  • Provide clear direction for supervisors by establishing KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators),
  • Communicating goals and opportunities and encouraging teamwork and collaboration.
  • Monitoring operations to meet company policies, quality specifications, and USDA and OSHA standards.
  • Managing all aspects of operations to ensure a safe working environment. Taking immediate action to eliminate improper practices or hazardous conditions.

 

 Required skills:

· Team-oriented, Communication skills & People skills

· Bilingual is important, but not mandatory.

· Knowledge of beef cuts and production process.

· Must be able to read, write, and speak English
Must minimum one year of Fabrication supervisor experience in Beef operations.

 

Working Conditions:

· Working in cold temperatures

· Frequent exposure to knives, hot water and production machinery.

· Physical demands of this position may include a great deal of walking and stair climbing.

· Environment consists of slick floors and loud noise.

· Employee will typically work 50-55 hours per week, M-F with some Saturday work if necessary.

  • This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan; the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program.
