JOB SUMMARY:

 

Coordinate installation, maintenance, and repair work.  Hire, train, and oversee lower level Maintenance personnel.  Responsible for the prompt repair and ongoing maintenance of facility equipment.  Identifies, monitors, and troubleshoots problems.  Assures operation of safe and functionally sound equipment.  Performs repairs and troubleshooting on food processing equipment, including but not limited to: stuffers, vacuum pumps, mixers, grinders, packaging machinery, conveyors, hydraulic units, and multi-vacs.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

 

1.       Performs highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and other facility equipment.

  1. Installs replacement belts, filters, gears, chains, and valves.
  2. Troubleshoots pneumatic, electric, and hydraulic machine problems and makes necessary repairs.
  3. Performs repairs to machines involving machine guarding, bolt replacement, and breakdowns due to mechanical wear.
  4. Welds machine components.
  5. Performs preventative maintenance tasks such as lubricating parts, drive chains, etc.
  6. Handles installations, including hooking up air, water, gas, and the alignment and leveling of equipment.
  7. Resolves all maintenance and mechanical problems promptly with minimal disruption to production schedules.

2.       Acts as a lead by training, mentoring, scheduling, counseling, and providing guidance to less experienced and hourly Maintenance employees.

  1. Provides leadership through effective communication and coaching.
  2. Provides assistance and support as needed.
  3. Ensures a positive work environment exhibiting the company’s culture of respect for all employees.
  4. Motivates, corrects, and challenges personnel with a positive approach.
  5. Notifies Maintenance Director when problems arise.
  6. Maintains open dialogue with assigned team.
  7. When approached with feedback and concerns, resolves them in the most direct and positive way possible.
  8. Ensures all company policies are followed.

3.       Completes maintenance recordkeeping.

  1. Keeps record of all work performed.
  2. Updates maintenance history logs and completes required paperwork.
  3. Accounts for equipment used for maintenance and repairs.

4.       Understands and follows the company GMP policy.

5.       Understands and follows the company safety rules.

6.       May be required to work long hours and weekends.

7.       May assume other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent certification
  • At least 4 years of industrial maintenance experience required
  • Strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and industrial skills
  • PLC and HVAC training
  • AA degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance preferred
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
  • Proficient in MS Office applications
  • Good math skills
  • Must be well-organized with good attention to detail
  • Display strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Adaptable and dependable with ability to follow direction and work cooperation with others
  • Must maintain a helpful and professional attitude and appearance

 


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

ACTIVITIES:

 

 

Very active position, requiring standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day

HEARING:

 

Must be able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.

 

REPETITIVE MOTION:

 

Must be able to frequently and regularly use wrists, hands, and or fingers.

 

VISUAL ABILITIES:

 

Acute close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

 

PHYSICAL STRENGTH:

 

Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds throughout the day.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

Must be able to work for long hours in a food processing environment, where it is wet, damp, and cold.  Temperatures are frequently below freezing, and employees are expected to remain in these conditions for the majority of their work days.
