Field Load Operator – Job Description

Shift: Monday–Thursday, 2:00 PM–2:00 AM
Approximate Pay: $20.50/hour

Position Summary

The Field Load Operator is responsible for transporting empty poultry cages from live‑haul trailers to broiler houses and safely operating a loader to move filled cages for transport to the Processing Plant. This role works inside poultry houses, often in low‑light conditions, and requires operating equipment around crew members while maintaining strict safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a loader inside broiler houses, including maneuvering in dark, confined, or crowded areas.
  • Transport empty cages from live‑haul trailers and position them for crews to load birds.
  • Work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment while adhering to all safety procedures.
  • Operate in varying conditions, including rough or uneven terrain.
  • Perform job duties inside broiler houses that may have wet, slick floors and low‑hanging equipment (e.g., feed lines, water lines, thermostats).
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervision.

Working Conditions

  • Exposure to dark or low‑visibility areas inside poultry houses.
  • Wet, muddy, or slick flooring surfaces.
  • Indoor agricultural environments with dust, feathers, and outdoor temperature variations.
  • Requires working both day and night hours depending on operational needs.

Qualifications

  • Ability to operate loaders or similar equipment safely.
  • Must be physically and medically qualified to pass a DOT medical examination as required for operating commercial vehicles ( CDL is not required).
  • Reliable, safety‑focused, and able to work in physically demanding environments.
