Job Description:
The Intake Attorney is a client-facing role within the firm’s Intake Department, focused on consulting with qualified prospective clients and supporting intake staff in converting cases into retained matters. This position conducts phone consultations, addresses legal and procedural questions, and guides clients through the retainer process to secure signed agreements. The Intake Attorney also manages follow-up on pending retainers, reviews declined inquiries for potential missed opportunities, and assists retained clients with post-sign-up questions related to engagement terms. This role does not carry an active caseload and is dedicated to intake conversion, quality control, and client experience.

- Be readily available to receive warm transfers from Intake Agents when a qualified prospective client requests to speak directly with an attorney prior to making a retention decision, or return calls at a pre-arranged time when immediate transfer is not possible.
- Accept warm transfers from Intake Agents when a prospective client is qualified, but the agent is unable to close the case on the initial call, and the client agrees to speak with an attorney, either immediately or via a scheduled callback to ensure timely attorney consultation and maximize conversion.
- Conduct attorney phone calls focused on addressing client concerns, explaining legal options, and reinforcing the value of representation to facilitate case retention.
- Convert qualified prospective clients into signed clients by confidently walking them through the retainer agreement, explaining the signing process, and answering legal and procedural questions.
- Work with department supervisors to ensure that all clients or prospective clients receive stellar customer service and continually look for ways to optimize the process to get clients to sign up on the first call.
- Manage and execute structured follow-up outreach for pending retainers, including reviewing previously sent agreements and conducting same-day or next-business-day outbound calls to re-engage qualified prospective clients who were unable to sign at the time of consultation or requested additional time to consider retention, with the goal of maximizing conversion.
- Conduct daily reviews of turned-down leads using Intake’s qualification criteria to identify potential missed opportunities, and proactively re-contact requalified prospects to reassess interest, clarify eligibility, and secure retainers when appropriate.
- Serve as an attorney resource for retained clients who have post-signup questions regarding their retainer agreement, fees, or engagement terms, providing clarification and support while coordinating with downstream departments as needed, without managing an active caseload.
