The Role

We’re looking for a Lead BI Data Engineer to join our growing Business Intelligence team.

You will:

  • Design and develop modern business intelligence solutions in AWS, beginning with a project to consolidate customer subscription data from several brands within the VIPRE Security Group into a data warehouse.
  • Own the solutions you develop from end to end; from requirements gathering and data discovery through to building and testing the solution
  • Line manage data engineers; prioritizing and managing the workload for your part of the team, and collaborating with your team members to ensure quality and consistency
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues across the business, translating their requirements into something deliverable, and presenting them with solutions they can use
  • Drive best practices within the team
  • Optimize costs within the cloud services that we use

You Should Apply If 

  • You have extensive experience developing Kimball data warehouses that combine data from multiple sources
  • You have experience developing MPP data warehouses (preferably in Amazon Redshift)
  • You have data engineering experience in a cloud services environment (preferably AWS: we use S3, Athena, Glue, and Redshift to build our BI solutions)
  • You have line management experience, and enjoy coaching junior team members
  • You have experience producing clear, easy to use dashboards and reports using data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, QuickSight)
  • You are a good communicator, with extensive experience collaborating with business stakeholders to deliver the solutions they need
  • You love to problem solve
  • You are continuously looking to improve the work that the team delivers, proactively identifying issues and opportunities

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using Talend Open Studio to extract, transform and load data
  • Experience using Git for version control
