SEO Manager (Austin, TX):

We are seeking a highly talented and motivated SEO Manager who is an expert at developing and executing organic eCommerce campaigns that drive traffic and revenue. Fantastic communication and people skills are a must in this role. The SEO Manager we seek to add to our fast-growing team will support our SEO efforts out of our Austin, TX office but will collaborate closely with the SEO team based in our New York office.

In the role of SEO Manager, you will have the primary responsibility of iteratively developing, implementing and continually optimizing SEO strategies in order to directly and measurably improve our organic search results. You will have SEO ownership of individual web properties from Ziff Media Group’s portfolio of ecommerce sites. You will work with multiple internal teams and departments, including engineering, product, UX, PR and editorial. You will provide leadership and strategy for the direction of the web properties you oversee while acting as a collaborative partner to Ziff Media Group’s larger SEO team and Audience Growth department. 

Responsibilities

  • Evangelize the crucial role of SEO in driving incremental traffic and positive business outcomes across the organization.
  • Partner with key stakeholders in Marketing, Product, Engineering, Merchandising, BI and PR to implement best practices that will optimize and grow our SEO presence and performance.
  • Keep abreast of SEO trends, best practices and search news, particularly regarding algorithm changes that impact organic search results.
  • Gather and draw insights from data that can help identify and define areas of improvements and optimization.
  • Leverage various internal and external tools to measure/report on organic search performance and to identify/troubleshoot technical issues that might be affecting our overall rankings.
  • Identify and communicate technical aspects of site that require enhancements for SEO and monitor changes (redirects, canonical tags, META data, page speed, etc.)
  • Write SEO product requirements, QA and review all aspects of site code releases to ensure there are no negative SEO implications or impacts.
  •  Lead comprehensive SEO site audits that address UX, navigation, optimizations, mobile functionality that drive business metrics in a meaningful way to impact conversion and revenue.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to establish and implement site/content taxonomies and product data standards/guidelines/best practices in order to optimize onsite search relevance.
  • Lead internal training of search optimization best practices to increase overall search knowledge across the organization.
  • Perform keyword research, write optimized HTML tags and provide recommendations for internal linking, content promotion, content creation and implementation of schema mark-up.
  •  Identify and implement internal link optimizations of existing and new content to aid SEO efforts.
  • Collaborate with editorial team to create high-quality content around important, relevant terms.
  • Work closely with PR to manage off-page optimization by providing best practices for overall improvement to search
  • Monitor and report on onsite search metrics and KPIs.
  • Rely on both qualitative and quantitative analyses to identify and execute opportunities for improvements.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in SEO, preferably in-house.
  • Experience optimizing eCommerce websites to build organic traffic and drive revenue.
  • Experience utilizing a wide variety of SEO tools such as SEMRush, Brightedge, Conductor, Ahrefs, Google Search Console and others to perform analyses.
  • Experience with site crawlers and log file analysis.
  • Proficient and experienced with technical SEO (ex: XML sitemaps, canonicalization, hreflangs, robots.txt, URL redirects, etc).
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills.
  • Highly motivated, strategic, curious and innovative but also willing to roll up your sleeves and get in the weeds of the tactical execution that drives progress for search audience growth.
