The Payroll Specialist role is designed to grow within our evolving HR department and will gain exposure to multiple HR disciplines. Our team currently processes payroll and benefits for 750+ employees across 8 subsidiaries in the US and Canada. This role will report to the Payroll & Benefits Manager.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead day-to-day operations within the Payroll team with compiling and entering payroll data, and reconcile errors to maintain accurate and complete payroll records using the ADP payroll system.
  • Work with the Payroll team to review wages computed and correct errors to ensure accuracy of payroll.
  • Prepare reports of semi-monthly payroll earnings, taxes, and deductions for both the HR and Finance departments.
  • Educate and assist hourly & salaried-nonexempt employees with ADP Workforce time keeping software.
  • Process & coordinate leave of absence across multiple states (including keeping proper and timely documentation) for all employees from the commencement of a leave of absence through the return-to-work for each employee.
  • Provide counseling to employees and their managers on policies and procedures related to leaves of absence, advising employees on leave eligibility and managers on status of approved leaves.
  • Monitor payroll deductions related to leaves and work with the payroll team to resolve any leave-pay issues.
  • Provide implementation leadership and develop testing specifications for all software upgrades/implementations
  • Perform other duties within the Human Resources department as assigned.

 

Experience and Skills:

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in Payroll and/or Benefits/Leave Administration required. Multi-state processing required
  • Minimum of FPC Certification required, CPP Certification preferred
  • Prior knowledge and understanding of ADP Workforce Now greatly preferred – including but not limited to HR, Payroll, Time & Attendance and Benefits
  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR, Business Management or a related field preferred
  • Prior experience in a media or entertainment environment preferred
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and sound judgement, in addition to high level attention to detail, analyzing information, thoroughness, general math and reporting skills and organization is a must.
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office; advanced Excel skills a plus
