SEO Editor - IGN

Editorial San Francisco, California

Position at IGN

The IGN editorial team is looking for an editor to write about the trending games and entertainment we love -- and to help people find the awesome articles and videos we make. Search engines like Google and YouTube can make or break the great things we create, and we need help making those things visible to a growing audience.

Here’s a big list of things we need your help with:

  • Write SEO-optimized original content about trending topics in games and in TV shows and movies
  • Use various keyword tools to help find out what our audience is searching for and share them with the team
  • Provide an SEO check on content to optimize according to your strategies
  • Create and grow a web of backlinks across all content to help readers discover content
  • Team up with Product and Engineering on secret missions, like tools to help editors incorporate your SEO strategies

Requirements and skills you need:

  • Previous experience with content search optimization
  • Published work on a site we recognize (and that we see in search results!)
  • A college degree
  • Familiarity with games, game culture, and all the entertainment stuff we love to cover
  • Experience editing and improving other people’s work -- don’t worry, our team is able to take criticism
  • 99th percentile ability to create and organize projects; you are a wizard at making a Google Doc people can understand and work off of (and some colorful formatting wouldn’t hurt)

It would be extra awesome if…

  • You have experience with YouTube tagging and publishing
  • You have experience delegating tasks when needed
  • You are part of a gaming community, whether it’s an MMO guild or nightly Fortnite meetup
  • You’re an IGN reader/watcher and active community member
  • You are comfortable and confident in sharing your opinions on camera -- every member of our content team is welcome to participate in video projects.
