You’ll work closely with fellow IT pros to deliver lightning fast solutions to head-scratching problems. You’ll also help bring new employees on board and interface closely with every member of the team.
 
 
What you’ll do: Spiceworks Ziff Davis is seeking a talented, multi-faceted IT help desk pro who can slay any blue screen of death, stare down the worst that email can throw their way, and laugh in the face of any tech problem (always with a smile and positive attitude). You’ll also respond to internal requests for help via the SWZD internal help desk and assist SWZD employees and contractors with tech issues (ranging from basic troubleshooting to advance debugging). Oh, and you’ll have a ton of fun every ticket of the way!

Responsibilities:

Day-to-Day: As our IT Support Technician, you will… 

  • Provision new systems for Spiceworks employees and contractors
  • Assist in the administration of the Spiceworks Ziff Davis Active Directory, Google Apps, remote access systems, developer tools (bug trackers, version control, etc.), and other critical business applications
  • Assist in provisioning new computers including configuring, installing, deploying and decommissioning
  • Assist in other IT-related tasks as assigned

 Qualifications: What does it take to do this job? 

  • 2 years of help desk or IT support experience
  • Advanced knowledge of operating systems to include Windows, Windows Server, Mac OS X, and Linux (Ubuntu, Red Hat-based distributions)
  • Ability to troubleshoot mobile devices
  • Ability to troubleshoot operating systems and determine root cause of common failure modes
  • Advanced knowledge of desktop and laptop hardware; HP and Dell preferred
  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining typical business applications such as Microsoft Office, Salesforce, Google Drive, etc.
  • Ability to lift servers, monitors, printers, etc. up to 50 lbs.

Bonus

  • Experience with using the Spiceworks Ziff Davis Application
  • Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange administration (new account creation, account maintenance), network administration (configure VLAN membership, up/down ports, physical plant administration)
  • PBX (VoIP, TDM) administration concepts
  • Experience with desktop systems imaging applications
  • Data/voice cabling
  • Scripting language experience (VBScript, Powershell)
  • BA/BS in Computer Science, MIS or equivalent
