System Administrator


The Systems Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation and support of key technology systems to ensure the highest levels of availability, redundancy, scalability and security.  This individual will assist in developing and implementing technology solutions that deliver high levels of system performance and reliability and industry best practices.


Major Accountabilities: 

Strategy & Planning

  • Participate in developing strategies for scalable, redundant client/server implementations; architect the infrastructure required to support those strategies.
  • Creation and deployment of company-wide system patching solution.
  • Build and maintain default virtual and physical operating system templates and hardware baselines.
  • Maintain or current security policies.
  • Participate in capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for systems and software in conjunction with end-users and department managers.


Acquisition & Deployment

  • Conduct research on server/desktop hardware, software, and protocols in support of procurement and development efforts.
  • Coordinate administration functions to implement server systems that utilize industry best practices to meet corporate objectives.
  • Deploy servers, routers, switches, wireless access points and all facility security systems.
  • Maintain and administer the procurement procedure
  • Develop and maintain asset management solution


Operational Management

  • Manage communications (e-mail, IM, VoIP) and connection solutions, including workstation connectivity, local area networks, all web sites, intranet, and internet applications.
  • Perform file system configuration and management; define and perform server backups and recovery procedures.
  • Plan and implement server upgrades, maintenance fixes, and vendor-supplied patches.
  • Manage end user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations in accordance with industry standards and best-practice.
  • Maintain internal systems, including by not limited to: password vault, monitoring solution, Cisco phone system, VIPRE Console, vSphere, and cloud app management.


Education and/or Certification Requirements;

  • BA/BS in CS or related field, or equivalent experience

Required Skills:

  • 1-3 years of progressive experience with Windows and VMware systems administration in an enterprise environment.
  • Exceptional knowledge of VMware, Dell servers.
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows Servers, Exchange, AD.
  • Advanced knowledge of backup technology and strategy.
  • Knowledge of load-balancing and clustering, iSCSI and fiber SAN.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL server.
  • Working knowledge of monitoring technologies.
  • Working knowledge of security best practices.
  • Familiarity with Cisco switches, routers, Palo Alto firewalls and enterprise networking and topologies.


Preferred Skills:

  • Minimum of 1-3 years in a midsize or larger enterprise IT environment in a senior technical analytical role.
