j2 Digital Media’s Finance and Accounting Team is seeking a highly organized compensation analyst.  This person will be a key member of the Digital Media finance and accounting team, reporting directly to the SVP of Accounting and working very closely with the Chief Financial Officer.  This person will have high exposure to each of our business unit general managers, sales and financial planning teams.


  • Maintain the consolidated census for Digital Media and its component business units. Ensure that all department and related coding assignments are proper and reflect current assignments for each reporting period.  Ensure the Human Resources department is in possession of and has properly reflected this census information within the payroll system for correct compensation accounting.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to track new hires, compensation changes, and terminations and ensure that all constituents: Accounting, Financial Planning and Analysis, Human Resources and Executives are working with consistent information driven by the census.
  • Maintain a proper accounting of all incentive plans (sales commission, bonuses, and executive plans), and ensure all periodic accounting of those plans are proper at the business unit level. Ensure that plans are properly represented and accounted for at the business unit level in forecasts and budgets.  Ensure that the Human Resources department is in possession of and has properly reflected this information within administration systems.
  • Collaborate with business unit financial teams to ensure incentive accruals (sales commission, bonuses, and executive plans) are recorded accurately on a monthly basis based on year to date performance for all plans. Maintain transparent tracking work papers so presentations of current expense and accrued liability positions can be delivered to executive and business unit management.  Use this information to provide accurate forecasts of these expenses for each forecasting cycle and be able to prepare budgeted expenses annually as part of the budgeting process.
  • Review all compensation related accounting entries posted to the accounting system after each pay cycle to ensure that all up to date information has been accounted for properly.
  • Review all compensation information reflected in budget and forecast cycles to ensure all up to date information has been reflected.


  • S. in Accounting or Finance required, CPA or CMA required.
  • 3-5 years of experience within a multi-unit, multi-currency digital media company or similar construct with multiple compensation, sales and incentive structures. Preferably within a public company environment.
  • Highly organized and ability to develop and maintain a routine timeline, process and reporting cadence amongst Accounting, Human Resources, Financial Planning and Analysis and Executives.
