The Details:

Ziff Davis is seeking an associate producer to join a growing team of creative digital video storytellers to generate content across the tech and commerce portfolio (Mashable, PC Mag,, Ask Men, Extreme Tech, and The ideal candidate will have at least two years’ experience writing, reporting, and producing videos for the internet and a
strong interest in tech news and human interest stories. A typical day for you involves reading the latest news and discussions on social media. You’ll write scripts. You may find yourself converting articles into scripts. Whenever there's a video about a new gadget or invention in your news feed, you stop and watch. You're super-curious about the next big thing in tech and love talking about digital trends, and you know how to make it interesting for "regular" people (i.e., non-techies). You know the difference between “less” and “fewer.” You have experience writing for a general audience and can write clean, compelling copy accurately and very quickly. You are as confident in front of the camera as you are behind it, and being front-and-center on video is as second nature as shooting and editing.

The Day to Day:

  • Producing multiple original videos a week on multiple topics across the Ziff Davis tech and commerce portfolio.
  • Coordinating with team members, editorial leads, editors, writers, and illustrators on your stories.
  • Staying engaged on social media networks.
  • Shooting video content, both in studio and on location, using a variety of professional video equipment.
  • Editing video content, ranging from short news videos to longer, more complex features.
  • Conducting interviews, both on- and off-camera, with talent.
  • Pitching and executing video concepts.
  • Meeting or exceeding monthly KPI goals.

Must Haves:
  • Two years of experience writing and reporting about technology.
  • Demonstrated ability in field and studio production.
  • Ability to turn over clean, well-written copy on extremely tight deadlines.
  • Strong sense of visual storytelling.
  • Know the entire video process inside out, from the early stages of developing a concept to delivering the finished
  • product.
  • Always thinking of new and different ways to excite and engage through video. You approach challenges with a
  • fresh, open mind, but your experience means you’ll always make the most of every opportunity.
  • Multimedia skills: You understand the basics of shooting quality video, and know how to make footage look good
  • even if you’re just using a phone.
  • Enthusiasm for mobile storytelling tools, including (but not limited to) Instagram, Facebook Live, Snapchat, and
  • the vertical "stories" format.
  • Experience working for a website.
  • Interest and knowledge in humor, pop and web culture
  • Strong social media presence.
  • A background in journalism is preferred.
  • You’re a team player.
