About Product at IGN

IGN’s Product vision is to build products that enable people to enjoy more games, movies, and shows, and share their experiences with others in fun, inclusive ways. For nearly 30 years, we’ve been a leader in games and entertainment media. We have a nerdy, laid-back environment but our passion for our community runs deep.

The IGN Product team is on the journey to empower our product teams to solve hard problems – customer problems and business problems – in ways that our customers love and work for our business. Our product teams are cross-functional groups of product management, product design, and engineering.

About The Job:

This Lead Product Design role is responsible for collaborating closely with Product Managers, design, and engineering to understand if products are usable and feasible, and is accountable for creating solutions that are both valuable and viable for the world’s largest Games and Entertainment media website. In this individual contributor role, you’ll also be building and maintaining IGN’s design system, and enforcing consistency across products.

You will need to be able to influence your teammates, as well as colleagues, stakeholders, and key executives, through your user experience skill, and beauty in your execution.

A successful Lead Product Designer will be as cunning with a whiteboard or napkin as they are with their pixels. You can take products start-to-finish on fast deadlines and can build clickable prototypes in a short span of time, and iterate several times over within the span of a week.

Desired Qualifications:

A portfolio of work demonstrating deep attention to detail, design best practices, and shipped products.

4-6 years working on technology-powered products as either a product manager, product designer, engineer, data analyst, data scientist, or user researcher.

Demonstrated ability to learn multiple functional areas of business – engineering, design, finance, sales, or marketing.

Demonstrated ability to design solutions to hard problems with many constraints, using sound judgment and best practices

Mastery of UI/UX design tools, and able to teach others

Knowledge of designing for accessibility, and internationalization.

Understanding of what’s possible with modern HTML, and CSS.

Proven ability to engage with engineers, designers, and company leaders in a constructive and collaborative relationship.

You must submit a link to your portfolio to be considered for this position

Bonus points for having a go-to geeky passion for any kind of games, movies, or shows.

Diverse Perspectives:

Diversity makes IGN better in every way, and we want to explicitly welcome people that bring diverse life experiences, educational backgrounds, cultures, and work experiences. Please be prepared to share with us how your perspective will bring something unique and valuable to our product teams.
