Overview

Front Safe A/S is 100% owned by J2 Global. J2 Global is one of the world's largest service providers specializing in cloud backup. We protect businesses of any type and size against data loss, before anything happens. Front-safe is today responsible for daily backup of more than 3,500 end customers.

We are looking for a Technical Consultant to join our business. In this role, you will be working closely with the Front-safe Technical Support, Operations and Sales teams, reporting to Front Safe Support Team Lead the Europe Operations Team Lead In this role, you will play a critical part in identifying  and defining customers’ business backup/ disaster recovery requirements and translating these into a technical roadmap.

You can expect to spend a lot of your time with us talking to and learning about our customers, on the back of which you will make recommendations to our Operations, Sales and Support teams on how we can best meet and exceed our customers’ expectations now and into the future. Your role will be to translate the customer’s wishes into a technical reality.

You will be surrounded by colleagues with experience in diverse areas and will get the chance to collaborate with them, learning new skills and mentoring others. You will have the chance to voice your opinions through weekly meetings with peers across Europe (and beyond) and with management at all levels.

You will also be writing technical and process documentation to make sure that our services are sustainable.

Job Duties

  • Working with the sales team to create solutions that will help our customers to meet their backup requirements (RPO/ RTO) and improve the performance and efficiency of their backup routines
  • Acting as a subject matter expert for the Support and Sales teams for escalations, pre-sales and other queries
  • Working with the Support and Operations teams to plan, manage and perform migrations, upgrades and other infrastructure maintenance and projects
  • Creating and maintaining clear documentation of hardware, firmware, OS versions and patch level of appliances managed by the Front Safe team
  • Assisting with on-site datacentre and customer appliance maintenance
  • Creating, developing, implementing and documenting new services and solutions in co-operation with Sales, Support and Operations
  • Be ready to work as part of a team that will do everything to get our customers back up and running in ‘all hands on deck’ situations!
  • This role will involve some travel to customer sites and offsite datacenters
  • The successful applicant will be part of an on-call rotation

Job Requirements and Experience

Experience in:

  • Developing and delivering complex technical solutions to enterprise and SME customers
  • Technical sales/ solution architect functions
  • Owning and planning projects

Experience with the following technologies:

  • 3+ years TSM/ IBM Spectrum Protect, including backup/recovery mail systems and databases
  • Strong knowledge of server hardware, ideally IBM/Lenovo x-series server
  • IBM/Lenovo Direct Attached Storage and Storwize
  • HDS storage
  • IP networking and infrastructure in general

Experience of the following would be beneficial:

  • Windows Server 2016, 2012 and 2008
  • Virtualization, especially VMware
  • Other Enterprise backup products, notably Veeam
  • Linux, (Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS)
  • Shell script (bash) and PowerShell

Business fluency in both written and spoken English is essential
