The Ziff Media Group Fellows Program is searching for energetic and motivated individuals looking to develop their career in digital media.  If you’re looking for an opportunity to geek out on tech, internet culture and e-commerce, in a fast-paced, data-driven, results-oriented environment, ZMG is the place for you. 

This is not an internship; this is a chance to work with the best in digital media, learn the systems we use, and get a better understanding of our brands, content, and business model. Fellows will benefit from hands-on experience working with team leaders on valuable projects that move our company forward. With available positions across multiple departments, from monetization and marketing to analytics and editorial, Fellows will apply fresh and forward-thinking insights to real-life needs. 

Fellowships are geared towards individuals in the early stages of their career path who have a foundational knowledge of the industry and experience relevant to the specific role for which they are applying. Fellowships have an initial term of three months which can be extended for up to a total of 12 months. All fellowship roles are paid and eligible for our healthcare benefits.

As the Fellows Program is aimed at cultivating the next generation of digital media leaders, the culmination of the Fellows program may lead to future employment at ZMG. In the past, select high-performing Fellows have become full time employees at the end or shortly after their fellowship was completed.

Mashable’s Culture + Tech team is seeking an internet-obsessed and tech-savvy Editorial Fellow for summer 2021. Does that sound like you? Great! Read on. 

As a fellow focusing on technology and digital culture, you'll stay up to date on the latest Apple product launches while also browsing TikTok for the latest weird gadget everyone wants to try. You’ll learn and improve your skills in writing quick news hits, creating search-friendly utilities, and pitching stories for the Mashable audience. Plus, you’ll work with a team of editors and writers who love the internet and gadgets just as much as you.

The ideal candidate thrives on tight deadlines and a fast pace but can still raise a skeptical eye to check all facts, assumptions, and presuppositions. They’ll be able to balance quick turnaround stories with longer-term stories. They can also write in a way that is informative and helpful while maintaining a strong voice. They’re also willing to explore and engage with the internet, in all its weirdness.

The Day to Day:

  • Taking on 2-3 assignments per day 
  • Writing search-friendly listicles, guides, and short features
  • Assisting with fact-checking and research
  • Pitching stories appealing to a Mashable reader
  • Working with the Tech + Culture teams to develop stories

Must haves:

  • Delightful human with can-figure-it-out attitude 
  • An enthusiasm for working on a team
  • Familiarity and strong interest in technology and digital culture
  • Knows what makes a useful story
  • Understanding of basic SEO practices 
  • Team player: You know when to ask for help, and ask to help
  • Enthusiasm for Mashable's core coverage areas: tech, culture, and entertainment
  • Strong grasp of grammar and AP Style
  • Minimum availability of 35 hours a week (this is a full-time fellowship)
  • Based in NYC, LA, or SF, but will be remote
