The Business Intelligence Team Lead will manage the team which develops and operates the analytic technologies that give our functional groups (including Finance, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Care) flexible, structured access to their vital operating data. Effortlessly switching between daily tactical and long-term strategic activities, the Team Lead is expected to develop and refine a detailed understanding of our business and never lose sight of the broader problems that we are trying to solve.

Duties

  • Partner with stakeholders to lead the charge in finding ways to make accessing data and insights easier
  • Track and analyze large amounts of data to discover meaningful trends and present to key stakeholders of the organization
  • Build, maintain, and optimize data pipelines that bring together various data sources (this is a hands-on role, and will have some coding responsibilities)
  • Ensure data quality and flow throughout data warehouse and reporting tools
  • Define and own the processes and procedures used in the BI data pipeline.
  • Drive the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, automated reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to drive key business decisions. Unify user data across all touchpoints.
  • Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation
  • Continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for customers
  • Work closely with finance, product, marketing, data, and product engineering teams
  • Participate in strategic & tactical planning discussions
  • Drive a data centric strategy focused on actionable insights
  • Develop incredibly valuable datasets that will be utilized companywide
  • Responsible for training and mentoring team members and recommending actions around hiring, firing and promotions.
  • Daily​ ​coordination​ ​of​ ​development​ ​activities​ ​with​ ​Product​ ​and​ ​Project​ ​Managers​ ​and​ Lead Developers as needed.
  • Identify​, ​evaluate​, and implement ​new​ ​techniques,​ ​tools,​ ​and​ ​technologies​ ​to​ ​expand​ ​the​ ​team’s
  • capabilities.
  • Reviewing​ ​test​ ​plans,​ ​test​ ​cases,​ ​and​ ​automated​ ​test​ ​scripts​ ​created​ ​by​ ​QA​ ​team​ ​members.
  • Displays solid fiscal responsibility by managing and adhering to budgets and always seeking out operating efficiencies and economies.
  • Works with Technical Project Management to create and maintain the prioritized backlog and schedule for the team.
  • Demonstrates an inclusive, roll-up-your-sleeves work ethic by showing a willingness to participate in daily workloads when needed to make deadlines.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • 7+ years of Business Intelligence experience and 5+ years experience in Data Warehousing
  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership capacity
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, finance, business, mathematics, or other quantitative field
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS (Redshift, Airflow, PostgreSQL etc.)  
  • Experience in ETL and databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets
  • BI reporting experience with tools such as Tableau, Domo and Google Data Studio
  • Experience in gathering requirements and formulating business metrics for reporting
  • Strong grasp of quantitative data analysis and statistics
  • Strong verbal/written communication & data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
  • Experienced working in a fast-paced, high-tech environment (preferably software development) and comfortable navigating conflicting priorities and ambiguous problems
  • Strong track record in converting data analysis into tangible and significant real-world changes
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate projects across functional teams, including product management, marketing, finance, and operations
  • Leading initiatives where teams were comprised of onshore and offshore resources
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience successfully leading teams in a dynamic, fast time to market and customer focused environment.
  • Consistently exhibits a personal accountability to outcomes to all team members, peers, and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to respond quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously in order to meet deadlines
