The Director is a professional in the Scientific Affairs team who, with a high level of independence, establishes, cultivates, and leads a quality network of external free-lancers to support PRIME’s medical education initiatives, from grant writing through content and survey development for awarded grants.  This self-starter develops and refines efficient workflow processes and proactively identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves issues that arise in a spirit of continuous improvement.  Leveraging highly refined organizational and interpersonal skills, this leader is responsible for directing and mentoring the free-lancer team and ensuring timely, cost-effective achievement of quality deliverables aligned with the company’s goals.  The Director develops and oversees development of needs assessments, grant proposals, and content based on published clinical trial data, peer-reviewed articles, clinical guidelines, subject matter expert interviews, internal PRIME data, and other reliable medical/scientific data sources.  While establishing and managing the free-lancer network, the Director will also be responsible for directly contributing to grant and content development as time permits. He/she directs development of compelling educational materials, including program titles, learning objectives, agendas, and formats.  This individual also contributes to identification of new grant opportunities and development of innovative, new educational products in alignment with the organization’s strategic plan.  Leveraging extensive experience in independently designing and developing evidence-based continuing medical education activities for the interprofessional health team, the Director relies on his/her extensive experience and judgement to accomplish goals with appropriate communication and visibility to the Executive Director.  In managing full circle medical education with the support of the free-lancer network, the Director will act as an adult learning expert to assist PRIME in driving corporate objectives through grant development, program design, development, and evaluation. In this role, the Director collaborates with other colleagues, departments, and stakeholders as part of PRIME’s commitment to quality and flawless execution of its educational products and services.  He/she reports directly to the Executive Director, Scientific Affairs and is responsible to liaise with the internal stakeholders in a collaborative, solutions-oriented, team environment.

Position Duties:

  • Build and cultivate a network of external free-lancers to support PRIME’s medical education initiatives
  • Develop/refine efficient workflow processes for timely, cost-effective achievement of deliverables within defined budgets
  • Oversee high-caliber grant and scientific content development adhering to standards of adult learning principles and interprofessional education
  • Contribute to identification of new grant opportunities, grant planning and development, new innovative educational products (including educational design, format, and execution) to achieve company goals and address unmet educational needs
  • Establish and maintain relationships among key leaders in health care, across various practice settings, to gather expert opinion and insights into educational program needs, gaps in care, learning preferences, and grant opportunities
  • Contribute to the outcomes measurement of high-impact educational programs, including measurement planning and survey instrument development
  • Develop a collegial rapport with internal teams and effectively communicate to ensure smooth, efficient workflow processes to meet the company’s timeline and budget goals for continued growth and success
  • With a solutions-based approach, proactively anticipate and resolve issues and identify areas for improvement
  • With keen attention to detail and focus on quality, review grant and content-related materials developed by free-lancers, faculty, and other medical writers, and provide guidance to ensure clinical relevance and accuracy
  • Participate in regularly-scheduled meetings, as appropriate
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimal Master’s degree (PhD degree preferred) in a scientific, communications, education, or related field commensurate with the scope of work identified in this job description and current knowledge of the healthcare industry, pharmaceutical pipelines, and CE industry
  • Prefer minimum of 4 years of experience in designing and developing continuing medical education (CME/CE) activities for healthcare professionals
  • Prefer experience in developing CME/CE activities supported by pharmaceutical companies and government contracts or grants
  • Prefer experience in training, project management and/or staff supervision in a team-based professional environment
  • Excellent ability to work independently and autonomously, and multi-task multiple high-level responsibilities and projects with accuracy and efficiency
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to effectively direct and motivate diverse team members
  • Ability to independently research, design, and develop high-quality scientific grant and medical writing commensurate with the desired “Position Duties”
  • Ability to independently complete literature review and review/analyze scientific/medical research to apply accurate concepts to product development
  • Analytical and didactic ability to independently complete medical writing in accordance with AMA criteria and grant development procedures
  • Ability to organize and convey multi-channel educational designs and deliverables efficiently, fluently, and accurately
  • Proficiency in analytical thinking and ability to convey complex data results in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to gather data from verifiable sources for grant development
  • Possess creative and visionary skills to identify and execute innovative educational program designs and formats
  • Excellent English language skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Mendeley or any other reference manager applications
