Senior Cloud Engineer

OffsiteDataSync is looking for a full time Senior Cloud Engineer to be responsible for the architecture and management of cloud-based infrastructure.  The engineer will be dedicated to the growth and support of the OffsiteDataSync customer-facing offering of DRaaS, BUaaS and IaaS services.  Candidate should have great interpersonal skills, along with experience in common networking technologies and platforms.  The ideal candidate will have 4-6 years of experience in cloud implementation, design, deployment and management.  As a Senior Cloud Engineer you will be responsible for the implementation, documentation and maintenance of all ODS datacenter equipment. You will also act as a final escalation point for customer network related issues.


  • Provision and administer DRaaS, BUaaS and IaaS environments using best practices for enterprise customers
  • Develop, design, deploy, maintain and lead the implementation of cloud solutions
  • Develop clear and concise installation, configuration procedures, runbooks and contribute to the maintenance of operational standards
  • Follow best practices to ensure individual customer security and isolation in a multi-tenancy network
  • Create automated approaches and scripts for system administration tasks where possible and appropriate
  • Implement security measures in all technical activities to limit unauthorized access/use
  • Own continuous delivery framework and focus on automation
  • Automate the provisioning of environments
  • Design and develop automation workflows
  • Evaluate and build different computing frameworks for all tiers
  • Implement scalable system solutions
  • Present technology concepts and terminology to technical peers and customers
  • Deploy, test and document development, pre-production and production environments
  • Deliver customer-facing presentations, webinars and technical discussions
  • Act as a final escalation point for all customer related cloud issues
  • Serve as a mentor for other cloud engineers in the team

  • 4-6 years experience in a computer network related field
  • Comprehensive understanding of VMware, vCloud Director, HyperV and other virtualization technologies
  • Comprehensive understanding of Veeam, Zerto and other virtual backup applications
  • Deep understanding of SAN and NAS devices.  Nimble, Dell, Equallogic preferred
  • 2 years experience in designing deployment strategies for cloud/virtualization and implementation of best practices
  • Deep understanding of virtual networking (switches, firewalls, etc)
  • Understanding of software defined datacenters, software defined networking and software defined storage
  • Linux system administration with basic networking
  • Windows system administration (2008R2 and higher) with basic networking
  • Veeam VMCE, VMCA; VMware VCA, VCP, VCAP, VCIX, VCDX certifications preferred.  VMware datacenter virtualization certifications desired.
  • Experience mentoring/leading junior engineers in a team-leader or management role.
  • Experience putting together budgetary proposals, developing cost/benefit evaluations, evaluating hardware/software quotes, and managing established budgets
  • Experience in other computing fields a plus (Linux, Virtualization, Storage, backup software, UCS)
  • Demonstrated ability to perform well as a self-starter
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload, and adapt to new processes and procedures quickly
  • Demonstrated history of having a strong customer focus, including experience working with customers directly, and prioritizing customer needs
  • Demonstrated experience working to a self-determined deadline and in customer outage situations
  • Demonstrated experience of troubleshooting and problem solving with limited information and ambiguous details
  • Ability to convey technical issues and material to non-technical audience
  • S. / M.S. in Computer Science or a related degree
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
