The Sr. Payroll Specialist role is designed to grow within our evolving HR department and will gain exposure to multiple HR disciplines. Our team currently processes payroll and benefits for 1,000+ employees across 8 subsidiaries in the US and Canada. This role will report to the Payroll & Benefits Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the Payroll team with compiling and entering payroll data, and reconcile errors to maintain accurate and complete payroll records using the ADP payroll system.
  • Maintain up to date payroll tax filing and review state & agency notices received.
  • Work with the Payroll team to review wages computed and correct errors to ensure accuracy of payroll.
  • Prepare periodic reports of semi-monthly payroll earnings, taxes, and deductions for both the HR and Finance departments.
  • Educate and assist hourly & salaried-nonexempt employees with ADP Workforce timekeeping
  • Provide guidance, as needed, to HRIS coordinator to ensure accurate data for payroll processing and ensure proper reconciliation of payroll’s general ledger
  • Work closely in conjunction with the HR team advising of employee status changes.
  • Ensure all documents are up to date and distributed and processed in a timely manner
  • Monitor payroll deductions related to leaves and work with the payroll team to resolve any leave-pay issues.
  • Ensure quality review and storage of employee documents related to new hires, terminations and status changes, and to assist with preparation of documents and/or reports for internal/external auditors.
  • Perform other duties within the Human Resources department as assigned. 

Experience and Skills:

  • Target candidate has 4 to 6+ years of relevant experience in Payroll and HRIS. Multi-state jurisdiction processing required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR, Business Management, Accounting or a related field preferred.
  • Prior experience in a media or entertainment environment a plus.
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and sound judgement, in addition to high- level attention to detail, analyzing information, thoroughness, general math and reporting skills and organization is a must.
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office; advanced Excel skills a plus
  • ADP Payroll software a plus, must have at least 3 years of experience using a major vendor (Ceridian, Paychex, Paylocity, etc.)
