We are seeking a Director, Programmatic Sales to work with our brand sales teams to maximize our first party programmatic revenue. This role will be Ziff Davis’ go-to programmatic direct sales expert, ensuring our sales teams have someone on hand to help explain Ziff Davis’ programmatic capabilities to our buyers. They will work both in partnership with our sales teams across our brands and also work on their own initiative, seeking out new business and specialist programmatic buyers in the market to ensure we cover all opportunities. 

This role will be based out of either our Los Angeles or San Francisco office. Reasonably frequent travel within the US is likely in order to reach relevant buyers.

Candidates must have established industry relationships across the programmatic landscape and a proven track record of accomplishment in programmatic sales, successfully growing revenue and partnering with internal stakeholders in sales, marketing and operations. 

This role will report to the EVP Revenue Operations and work closely with the sales leadership and teams for our gaming and technology brands.


  • Grow Programmatic Direct revenue for our brands (PMP and Programmatic Guaranteed) and hit budget.
  • Continually help sales teams understand the issues that are driving programmatic direct growth, and why buyers may choose one platform over another.
  • Work with the sales teams to ensure we are knowledgably represented in meetings where programmatic direct may be a preferred buying path.
  • Work closely with our Sales SVPs, ensuring they are aware of the sales pipeline, meeting calendar and any industry issues which could affect revenue.
  • Work with our revenue operations team to ensure full communication of required KPIs for All programmatic direct campaigns to ensure we deliver successfully against client needs.
  • Continually expand knowledge about the programmatic landscape and digital generally, paying close attention to trends, technologies and pricing models.
  • Understand our clients’ needs and tailor the correct business proposal to each individual client.
  • Provide strategic thinking and guidance on the best application of products, services and technologies for our agencies' clients and work to ensure our programmatic activation is connected to our full range of digital capabilities to deliver the best possible outcomes for our clients.
  • Understand our first party data and how it can drive our commercial offering in conjunction with context.
  • Understand the editorial and commercial propositions for our brands and work with operations to ensure key executions are available programmatically.

  • Experience with ad technologies, such as DSPs, DMPs, measurement vendors (e.g. fraud, viewability, etc.) and data providers
  • Consultative selling skills with the ability to anticipate and overcome concerns by positioning value propositions in relation to client needs.
  • Active with key industry events, trends, and emerging ad technologies

Education & Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, business, or related field or equivalent experience required. MBA a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in a sales management role with proven digital sales and programmatic sales success.
