PCMag.com is seeking an experienced and talented Business Writer to join our reviews team based in New York City. You will be primarily responsible for testing products and writing reviews of general-use business productivity and operational tools, including categories such as CRM software, email marketing tools, social media listening and management dashboards, point-of-sale (POS) systems, and e-commerce platforms. (Expert skill in these areas is not required, but exposure and demonstrable experience using as many as possible is a definite plus.)

Additionally, you’ll track emerging trends as well as pitch and execute how-to and trend features. You’ll also edit and produce freelance story packages and write/schedule social promotions.

Responsibilities

  • Testing and writing are the primary responsibilities in this role.
  • Getting ahead of trends and new product developments by interviewing experts and attending events. You’ll help shape our business coverage, so you need to know what's next.
  • Writing supporting features is also an important component of the position, including emerging trends pieces, buying guides, and news analysis as it pertains to business technology, and how-to features to help readers use the products we review.
  • Writing is the primary medium in this role, but successful candidates will be encouraged to explore other channels, including video and podcasting, if interested. 
  • You’ll be editing and producing copy, entering specs, editing images, and building slideshows, so familiarity with content management systems is preferred.
  • Representing PCMag at vendor meetings and industry events.

Qualifications

  • This is an onsite position. You must be able to work in our NYC office.
  • A Bachelor's degree is required; journalism or English concentration preferred.
  • Four+ years of professional writing/editing experience at an established website, magazine, or newspaper.
  • Must be a self-starter who can independently prioritize projects, and be able to thrive in a fast-paced, competitive, deadline-driven environment.
  • The ability to write quickly and clearly is an absolute must.
  • A strong work ethic and strict attention to detail.
  • An interest and general knowledge of business technology.
  • Familiarity with online-publishing platforms and digital-image manipulation.
  • Product review experience is a strong plus.
  • On-camera video experience a plus.
