IGN is looking for an experienced SEO Manager to join our Audience Development team! In this role you will establish and evolve IGN’s overall SEO strategy, in close cooperation with Editorial and Product/Dev leadership.

Job Duties
Serve as IGN’s leading SEO voice, contributing daily SEO data, intelligence, and best practices to content and product teams. Oversee one direct report to create custom keyword-targeted content, improve existing content rankings, and grow a content marketing and backlink generation strategy.
Content
● Lead Editorial professional development sessions, sharing SEO best practices and trends
● Perform regular content audits, working with editorial teams to adjust strategy
● Perform and share through day-to-day keyword research and analysis, competitive keyword reports, gap analysis, striking distance, on-page SEO reviews etc.
● Collaborate with SEO Editor to create custom search-targeted content and improve existing content rankings
Product
● Work with product and dev managers to ensure SEO related tasks are properly prioritized and worked into project pipelines
● Collaborate with design and UX team to provide SEO input and support
● Produce SEO Tech audits and page template-level recommendations
Backlinks & Content Marketing
● Drive strategies to generate backlinks into high-strategic-value and high-revenue pages
○ Content syndication, link prospecting and link outreach campaigns, etc.
● Ensure content feeds incorporate SEO best practices
● Perform competitive link research
○ Link intersection, link reclamation
● Monitor domain link profile and perform maintenance and cleanup/disavows
Requirements & Expectations
● This is not an entry-level SEO position; previous professional experience within publisher/media SEO is required
● Strong communication skills required. This role will translate SEO needs for creative, technical, and non-technical internal audiences
● Extensive knowledge of standard and current SEO practices
● General knowledge of HTML/CSS
● Strong familiarity with SEO tools like SEMRush, Moz, Majestic, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, DeepCrawl, Buzzsumo (or equivalents)
● Familiarity with data science and excel
Nice-to-Haves
● Experience in PR, content marketing and outreach
● Previous background as a journalist or content creator is a bonus
● Experience with YouTube SEO and keyword optimization and video SEO best practices
● A BA/BS degree in computer science, marketing, communications or a related field is a bonus but is not required
