The Sr Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing and managing the data and voice network for the Consensus unit and will serve as the senior technical escalation contact for support and project requirements. The Sr Network Engineer is required to possess deep knowledge of SIP and VoIP protocols, SBC architecture and operations, SIP devices (Cisco Cube, ACME, etc.) as well as an advanced expertise with CISCO routing and switching protocols and devices.  Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess expert level knowledge of cloud networking (AWS) strategies and best practices. 

The Sr Network Engineer is a hands-on position with an expectation of approximately 40% daily network administration and support tasks and approximately 60% project-related tasks.  The Sr Network Engineer will be responsible for strategic network architectural leadership as well as for designs, project management, and project implementations.

The Network Administration team is responsible for and tasked with design, procurement, management and administration of the worldwide data network for the Consensus business both on premises and “cloud” based.  The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a strong track record of proven results encompassing both the required technical and project delivery skills.


  • Troubleshoot all components of the j2 worldwide voice and data network including but not limited to routers, switches, firewalls, IPS/IDS, SD-WAN, VPNs, LAN, WAN, load balancers, EIGRP and BGP, etc
  • Provide guidance and direction related to AWS global network strategies, interconnectivity and best practices.
  • Identify inefficiencies in the current network topology and make recommendations to optimize our network architecture for selective and specific investments that will produce great returns  
  • Provides strategic design and architecture direction for the j2 data and voice networks.  Responsible for successfully implementing network projects, identifying risks, documenting and communicating migration plans to improve j2 infrastructure
  • Provide multi-level documentation of the j2 data network and maintain accuracy and currency. 
  • Manage all tasks and projects, and ensure that all items are tracked in the ticketing system and being handled in a manner that meets or exceeds established OLAs and SLAs
  • Develop network architecture standards and implement network designs that fulfill the requirements of the business.
  • Working with Information Security, to implement and enforce strong Network Security techniques and procedures
  • Provide network support, design, and input on projects
  • Provides Sr. Network Engineering guidance and training for Network Engineers and analysts
  • Create and track expense, project and capital budgets for network-related items.  
  • Size, procure and optimize circuit utilization and provide trending and utilization reports
  • Be available for on-call rotation and possible travel when needed.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Resolve assigned trouble tickets and maintain accurate status in the j2 ticketing system 
  • Prepare documentation, project status reports, policies, procedures, and reports for the management team
  • Provide customer service to internal customers
  • Promote teamwork within the team and foster cooperation with other groups and departments
  • Demonstrate initiative and dedication, as well as an ability to work independently once general direction is given
  • Provide detailed information through effective written and verbal communication
  • Participate in and enforce the change control and production control processes


  • 6+ years of hands-on networking and troubleshooting experience in a multiprotocol environment. 
  • 5+ years maintaining current router and switch technology, routing protocols (e.g. BGP, MPLS, EIGRP, etc.), switching protocols (STP, LAG, etc.).
  • Familiarity with ASA/FPR Series NG Firewalls, Cisco IOS, Nexus Switches, and Content Switching with SSL (NetScaler) preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience designing, implementing and maintaining cloud based network topologies. (AWS/GCP)
  • 4+ years of maintaining Wireless technologies including on-premise and cloud based Access Points (Cisco / Meraki preferred).
  • 3+ years experience with network security products and protocols (e.g. IPS/IDS, IPSEC VPN, device and SaaS client VPN) in an e‑commerce environment.
  • Working knowledge of Authentication, Authorization and Accounting systems (RADIUS, TACACS+, 802.11x).
  • Familiarity with Industry certification processes; SOX, HiTrust, PCI, etc. 
  • Familiarity with Single Sign On (SSO) and SAML based platforms. 
  • Interest in and familiarity with new and emerging Tier 1 and Tier 2 network products and technologies. 
  • Working knowledge of public and private DNS and ability to work with service providers.
  • Ability to create technical project deliverables such as project plans, status reports, Visio diagrams, and configuration files. 
  • Vendor Management skills and strong vendor relations in the data networking space.
  • Experience using Network Monitoring/Management platforms (e.g. NetScout nGenius, Cacti, Solarwinds, etc) and logging platforms. 
  • Working knowledge of Windows, Mac OS and UNIX/Linux platforms are a plus.
  • CCIE, CCNP, CCDP, CCIP and/or other network industry certifications highly desirable
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
