This position is responsible for the support and maintenance of j2’s IT hardware and software installations worldwide, including data centers, co-lo’s, remote offices, and cloud deployments.  The focus of this position will be on the procurement, configuration, tracking, reporting, and logistical operations associated with the delivery, administration, and decommission of IT assets worldwide throughout their life cycle.


Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support all business units by directly supporting IT via competent contract negotiations and procurement practices
  • Responsible for the full IT Assets Management life cycle
  • Initiate, organize, and lead negotiations with suppliers according to desired objectives complying with local procurement policies and practices
  • Participate in defining IT commodities strategy by interacting with all NetOps team members to effectively leverage
  • Execute Purchasing and other commercial roles in alignment with global and regional initiatives
  • Build sound relationships with suppliers, particularly strategic Value Added Resellers
  • Develop external relationships with IT Procurement peers in other enterprises to strengthen market knowledge
  • Provide sourcing support and best purchasing practices guidance
  • Develop business plan strategies/opportunities for overall spend reductions in conjunction with leadership
  • Assist in developing specifications and/or scopes of work with internal customers
  • Manage fixed asset tracking information in the ITAM system for all fixed assets. Maintain compliance with j2 ITAM policies and ensure successful internal audit results
  • Develop and issue formal requests for quotes/proposals (RFQ/RFP)
  • Participates on the Project Management when global projects are delegated to the local level
  • Manage list of IT projects Procurement and report on a weekly basis while assuring the IT Procurement strategy is met
  • Monitors savings and overall performance of the sourcing for projects: Measure, validate, and report savings generated by the sourcing projects and the negotiations for cost cutting or cost avoidance providing procurement metrics
  • Drive process improvements with IT Asset Management best practices and automation
  • Coordinate with all business units for recording the receipt of all software/hardware assets
  • Develop and maintain the media library (digital and physical) for software assets
  • Respond to requests from end users, managers, developers, and team members for specific IT Asset Management data information
  • Procurement and negotiation of all hardware equipment across the globe for 40 plus co-locations
  • Create and manage POs in Oracle
  • Logistics-Domestic/Intonations including custom clearance and foreign tax
  • Successful in the development of process improvement and streamlining for ticket automation and break-fix issues
  • Work closely with all managers and executive team in the administration of project accounting and budgeting
  • Schedule and coordinate colocation decommissions, e-waste, moves to meet regulatory requirements
  • Able to provide specialized support for Accounting from an IT perspective as it applies to Yearly Capex Budget
  • Handle the supply chain for assets from start to finish
  • Coordinate maintenance, replacement and repair of PC, server, networking, storage, plant and supporting systems globally
  • Manage colocation provisioning and tracking software such as LanSweeper and Jira Insight
  • Responsible for local inventory, maintenance, and license management
  • Creation and maintenance of published documentation such as operations manuals, rack diagrams and photos, floor plans, and contact information
  • Enforce j2 standard colocation and remote office operating policies, methods, processes and measures
  • Identify, analyze, and repair product failures in servers and related systems in a multi-platform environment
  • Manage the scheduling of remote eyes and hands for all work performed in colocations and datacenters globally
  • Responsible for fulfillment, update, resolution and closure of tickets assigned in the j2 service request tracking system
  • Research new technologies and present recommendations and justifications on hardware and software purchases
  • Evaluate new hardware/software and services

Other Responsibilities
  • Occasional travel may be required
  • Promote teamwork within the team and foster cooperation with other groups and departments
  • Report on Capacity Planning, SLA’s, policies, escalation and maintenance procedures for the above
  • Prepare documentation, status reporting, policies, procedures and reports for the management team
  • Provide customer service to internal and external customers
  • Demonstrate initiative and dedication as well as an ability to work independently once general direction is given
  • Provide detailed information through effective written and verbal communication and presentations
  • Participate in and enforcement of the change control and production control processes
  • Other tasks as assigned by management
Performance Requirements (j2 Expectations of Job Function):
  • 5+ years hands-on IT procurement and multi-vendor relationship management with emphasis on hardware and software inventory control and tracking
  • 5+ years hands-on hardware configuration experience in a multi-platform environment (UNIX, Linux, Windows Server) with at least 2+ years of System Administration experience
  • 5+ years troubleshooting or customer service skills with hardware and software (HP, Compaq, NMS, Dialogic etc.)
    5+ combined experience with any combination of the following items: IT Asset Management., Remote System Management, Remote System Deployment, Kickstart, Puppet, Version Control, Disaster Recovery
  • Bachelors Degree and Technical Certifications are a strong plus
  • Multi-tasking, self-motivated and project-oriented.   Project Management experience is a strong plus
  • Ability to work individually, within a team, and with other groups
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.  Presentation skills are required; candidate must be well versed in Google Apps and will be required to develop process documentation
  • Performs a variety of tasks. May provide consultation on complex projects and is considered to be the top level contributor/specialist.  Expected to build systems as well as to manage and oversee the build process
  • Works under general supervision. Initiative and time management are crucial
