Job Description

You will be central to the efforts of the Editorial Content team, running the Daily and Weekly News Program In your specific vertical on Toolbox (Martech, HRtech or IT)

You must be an excellent writer, with the ability to understand a specific industry happening and be able to articulate in a <1000 word feature why that event matters to the industry, putting it into perspective for our readers.

Your goal is to ensure that Toolbox publishes the best possible perspective on the latest news in the space, in the area of new product or feature launches, mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, funding, C-suite moves, events, awards, surveys and miscellaneous happenings, meeting both quantitative and qualitative targets.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Sourcing, selection and writing of content for News Program:
    1. Identify daily news items to be published to the site based on big news, big brands and nature of news
    2.  Write a rich analytical piece of about 700-1000 words on the specific news event, adding editorial context, external expert views and opinions sourced directly or from social media and blogs to add dimension to the coverage, as well as scrubbing all promotional references from the press release. The outcome is a good analysis of the news, with rich context, as well as editorial commentary to put the news into perspective for our audience of marketing/hr or IT professionals, and why this news matters to them.
    3. Curate news and write a daily or weekly news roundup of curated content for less-major news stories not published as stand-alone items.
    4. Typical volumes goal is 2-3 stand-alone news items and 1 news roundup of the less-major news per day (curated, written, edited and published)

 

  1. Uploading content
    1. Proof-read content as per AP style guidelines
    2. Quality check the content as per the Toolbox Editorial Guidelines
    3. Ensure the content is Search Optimized as per the SEO Guidelines
    4. Ensure the content is tagged appropriately and placed in the right section of the site as per taxonomy
    5. Upload the content as per timelines to the Wordpress CMS

Experience:

  1. 5-6 years in a similar role, preferably in Journalism, Editing, Content, Marketing, Content Management, Media, Publishers in the B2B or tech media space, preferably handing a news desk for a digital publication
  2. Excellent written skills in US English, preferably with some proof-reading experience
  3. Proven familiarity with SEO will be a huge advantage
  4. Must have worked on an CMS or a similar system or must be familiar with the same – preferably WordPress
  5. Basic IT skills – MS Office, Excel, Email communication skills
  6. Exposure to Media/ Publishing/ Marketing/ HR or IT function will be a bonus

Qualification: Graduate degree in English Medium is mandatory. Any degree in Journalism, English, Mass Communication, Marketing or in a related field will be preferred.
