Senior Technical Product Manager

The Senior Technical Product Manager for Platform Engineering will play a key role in developing E-commerce and business intelligence solutions within J2’s Security, Privacy and Data Protection business unit.  The TPM will be responsible for a new platform that is central to our plans for the integration of existing product lines and the base for future acquisition.  The TPM must balance internal customer needs, competing priorities, and resource constraints to deliver on an aggressive roadmap and drive change within the organization. The TPM is a thought leader who understands subscription-based Internet business, and who can work with global Engineering, Marketing, Support, Operations, and Sales to successfully deliver high quality solutions.

J2’s Security, Privacy and Data Protection business unit has a diverse portfolio that includes a range of both B2B and B2C focused businesses.   Key product lines include the VPN brands IPVanish and StrongVPN, security solutions under the VIPRE brand and both B2B and B2C Data Protection brands including LiveVault, KeepItSafe, LiveDrive, and SugarSync.  

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  •   Work with Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Project Management to plan delivery of Platform solutions
  •   Work with Business Intelligence and Finance teams to ensure we are using a common set of definitions for metrics and reporting and to ensure solutions include required data visibility.
  •   Continuously review and refine solutions produced by Engineering and Operations to best fit evolving business needs.
  •   Develop metrics and analytics to evaluate the success of products or new features of our products. Define and use measurements to inform product direction.
  •   Continually prioritize work by communicating critical milestones deconstructing features into discrete tasks, and focusing on results.
  •   Participate in ongoing internal business analysis to understand landscape, positioning, and feature set.  
  •   Translate product goals into backlogs and prioritized features sets.
  •   Work with cross-functional team members to plan the go-to-market strategy of completed features
  •   Product evangelist for assigned product areas both internally and externally.
  •   Work with external third parties to assess technologies and integration challenges. 
  •   Run beta and pilot programs with early-stage products and conduct UAT.

Job requirements:

  •   Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years of experience in Product Management in a subscription driven e-commerce heavy field.
  •   Ability to produce high-quality writing and presentation samples that explain complex technical topics clearly
  •   Understanding of Agile and work experience in a fast paced, Agile based development environment
  •   Flexibility and responsibility to work in a fast-paced, demanding work environment and to deliver on commitments without requiring much oversight
  •   Proven ability to influence without formal authority
  •   Formal Product Management course training a plus
  •   Experience with subscription focused SAAS billing platforms is a plus
  •   Experience with the integration of multiple product lines and both internal and external platforms is a plus.
·   Knowledge of tracking and reporting tools, JIRA and Confluence preferred.
