Ziff Davis, a subsidiary of J2 Global, Inc., is looking for a Lead Payroll Specialist.The role is designed to grow within our evolving HR department and will gain exposure to multiple HR disciplines. This role will report to the Payroll & Benefits Manager.

The team currently processes payroll and benefits for 1,000+ employees across 5 subsidiaries including companies such as PCMag, Mashable, Ookla, IGN Entertainment, AskMen, Offers.com, Ekahau, Spiceworks and Humble Bundle.

        Opportunity to learn global payroll & benefits - the right applicant must have strong US payroll processing skills, but willing to learn international payroll & benefits such as Canada & Australia.

 

        Flexible Work Location/Schedule - we are open to applicants throughout the US and are flexible about daily schedule due to needs and time zone requirements, but must be able to be available for the majority of working days from late morning to early afternoon as deadlines are based on the East Coast time zone. Please note employees are expected to work a full 8-hour day. This position may sit remotely or align with our offices in New York City, Seattle, San Francisco, Culver City, Memphis and Austin.

 

Responsibilities:

 

        Effectively act as a team leader ensuring the semi-monthly US payroll adheres to processing deadlines and leads the coordination of reconciliation reporting & communications between human resources & finance.

 

        Participates in HRIS-related projects and assists in the development of business processes and procedures. Recommends improvements to strategy and application use as needed.

 

        Troubleshoots ADP Workforce Now and willing to develop a deep understanding of the system setup, interdependencies and data flow to resolve issues.

 

        Identify, research and resolve variances and payroll related issues ensuring corrections/adjustment are processed to correct identified errors.

 

        Develop automated HR reports within ADP Workforce and document processing procedures to continue adding to our internal department library.

 

        Monitor payroll tax filing and registration, acting as the liaison between the division and the parent tax & workers; compensation department. Also includes reviewing agency notices received and taking appropriate action where necessary.

 

        Provides end user training for new users and on-going training to ensure the effective utilization of ADP; assists other departments such as IT and finance with rollout related to new system integrations and initiatives.

 

        Educate and assist hourly & salaried-nonexempt team members and their managers with ADP Workforce timekeeping platform.

 

        Ensure quality review and storage of employee documents related to new hires, terminations and status changes, and to assist with preparation of documents and/or reports for internal/external auditors.

 

        Perform other duties within the Human Resources department as assigned.

 

Target Candidate Skills & Experience:

 

        At least 3 to 5 years of relevant multi-jurisdiction processing experience in Payroll and/or HRIS using a major vendor; we use ADP Workforce Now.

 

        Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or a related field preferred.

 

        Effective presentation skills, ability to perform and deliver excellent results with quick turnaround times.

 

        Proficiency in Microsoft Excel including mastery of vlookup, pivot tables and basic formula functions.

 

        Customer service-oriented demeanor with the ability to meet employee expectations and process payroll in a very time sensitive manner.

 

        Ability to handle numerous confidential priorities in a dynamic and growing environment; you’re a strong multi-tasker seamlessly able to transition back and forth between tasks while maintaining a positive attitude and accuracy.
