Mashable is looking for an experienced social media strategist to help grow our audience and strengthen engagement on our social platforms.  Reporting to the Senior Director of Content Strategy s/he will be responsible for developing and owning our social media strategy. The ideal candidate will have a strong background and expertise in using analytics to inform business strategy and decision making.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Leverage original site content for optimization on social platforms and help to manage daily posting across Mashable’s social accounts
  • Create social-forward headlines and ensure Mashable’s unique editorial voice is applied across all social posts
  • Grow social media traffic to the Mashable website while also expanding the social media fan/ follower base and improving brand engagement on-platform
  • Analyze content and data to deliver key insights/metrics recaps around the success of our social media channels and content
  • Interact with and partner across the Mashable teams including Editorial, Product, Commerce, and Marketing/Sales to build impactful social media plans
  • Setup and manage social partnerships/swaps with outside brands to help grow feeds
  • Maintain existing relationships and develop new partnerships on distributed platforms such as Apple News, Yahoo and Flipboard
  • Pitch story ideas to editorial teams and keep everyone apprised of breaking news and trending topics
  • Keep up-to-date on the latest digital/social media technologies and best practices (i.e. emerging products, platform enhancements and algorithm changes)

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in SocialFlow and CrowdTangle and extracting insights from these products
  • Experience using Adobe Analytics (Omniture) or Google Analytics, Chartbeat, Twitter Analytics, and Facebook Business Manager
  • Experience working across various traffic channels including on-site, search, social, and distributed partnerships
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail, accuracy and accountability
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • A team player with strong project management and leadership skills
  • Able to multitask in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • 6+ years of experience in social media strategy and management at a digital publisher
