We are looking for an experienced Director of HR to lead a global team that drives Human Resources programs, practices, processes and policy. The ideal candidate will have a huge impact on our company, including organizational development, employee relations, employee engagement, satisfaction and performance management. This role serves as the primary evangelist of our culture, working directly with our most important asset, our employees.

The Director of HR will oversee and lead all HR programs and practices for our J2 Cloud Services Division. J2 Cloud Services is driving digital transformation and shaping the way business gets done. Whether through virtual phone services, unified communications, hosted email, email marketing, online backup, CRM solutions, or Cybersecurity, our revolutionary patented suite of services provides over three million customers worldwide with a more efficient, reliable, and cost-effective way of working.

We currently have over 1,300 employees in office locations spanning 14 countries worldwide, including major cities throughout the US, with many members of our team working remotely.

As a very acquisitive company, the Director of HR role is pivotal for our business success. The person in this role demonstrates strategic ability in scaling our organization and should have an outstanding strategic mindset with deep knowledge in all matters concerning HR and the employee life cycle. They will support business needs and ensure the proper implementation of company strategy and objectives are established and in place. The Director of HR is responsible for developing and implementing the company’s human resources business plan, establishing accountability, identifying solutions to resolve problems and fostering a workplace that enables all employees to contribute to the organization at their full potential. The Director of HR will collaborate with the management team and enable business success through a variety of initiatives. This leader will report to the President for the Cloud Division and to the Global Head of HR for J2 Inc., and will be part of the Global J2 Inc HR leadership team and the company’s global management team. 

The Director, HR of Cloud HR will:

HR Foundation

  • Provide leadership and expertise for your Division for the full scope of Human Resource functions including organizational effectiveness and change, talent acquisition & management, organizational learning and development, performance management, compensation and labor compliance
  • Provide employee relations support to managers/supervisors and employees to ensure complaints, discipline, performance management and corrective action procedures are handled in a fair, consistent and legally compliant manner
  • Conduct investigations in response to employee allegations or management inquiries, partnering with our Legal Team to manage risk and ensure compliance
  • Effectively and strategically manage HR Division budget
  • Manage benefit administration for the Cloud division
  • Support Division level M&A activity – both in assessing targets, evaluating cultural alignment, and ensuring smooth implementation and harmonization

 Business Partnership

  • Leverage deep understanding of the business to translate business plans into clear business-focused talent, engagement and organization strategies that achieve business outcomes
  • Partner with and advise our most senior team members (VP+) on people & culture strategy and decisions including team dynamics, design, development, and compensation
  • Actively engage with business leaders to ensure organization effectiveness and optimal organization design
  • Develop and lead a strong, high performing HR Business Partner team across multiple locations that has a deep connection to the business and drives/creates tangible business value

Culture & Performance

  • Manage the strategy and programs that support employee engagement, driven by data from our employee engagement survey, exit surveys, people analytics,
  • Be a cultural champion, both as a role model and in leading your team and cross-company initiatives to help us scale and strengthen our culture as we grow
  • Help to conceive and execute Diversity & Inclusion initiatives that make J2 a better place for everybody to work


  • Drive the Division talent agenda and provide clear leadership on Division talent management – including assessing, developing, coaching and mentoring critical executive talent
  • Partner with executives on senior level hiring and reward decisions

HR Leadership Team Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key member of the HR Leadership Team by actively engaging and collaborating with the team to lead functional transformation, determine proactive enterprise-wide strategic priorities, and drive positive business results
  • Partner with other HR leaders to continually improve and innovate our people processes and programs
  • Proactively partner and collaborate across the global HR organization, share information, and provide thought leadership and a solution-oriented mindset to optimize the business value of the HR function
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional working teams on strategic initiatives

  • Proven experience as a Director HR or another senior HR role in high volume, high growth businesses, prior experience in M&A processes and integration is a major plus
  • 15 years of Human Resources experience, with at least 3 years recent experience as the top/senior Human Resources executive manager
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources; MBA or other advanced degree is preferred
  • In-depth knowledge about local and international Human Resource Processes, employment legislation, and legal regulations
  • Broad business and financial understanding and ability to apply to human capital initiatives
  • High energy level, comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with hands on day-to-day activities
  • Assertive and persuasive with sound judgment
  • Ability to work under pressure in high-paced environment
  • Experience in HR planning and implementation
  • Deep knowledge of HR functions (talent management, recruitment )
  • Demonstrated process capabilities and results, metrics-driven
  • An excellent connector who collaborates, problem solves, and can help celebrate wins while learning from mistakes and always keeping the team in mind
  • A solid track record of influencing senior business leaders while demonstrating excellent decision quality
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company
  • Willing to travel when required
