Position Overview:

The Special Projects Manager, Strategy & Growth role is with Ziff Davis, a subsidiary of J2 Global, Inc (NASDAQ: JCOM). Ziff Davis is a leading tech company that owns and operates premium digital brands such as: IGN, Humble Bundle, RetailMeNot, Mashable, PCMag, Ookla (Speedtest.net), Ekahau, Spiceworks, and many more. Collectively, Ziff Davis brands are visited by a global audience 500MM+ times / month.

We are seeking a dynamic Special Projects Manager to support Ziff Davis’s President and executive team. The position will partner closely with these individuals, the broader Strategy & Growth team, and the organization at large to ensure that key initiatives run smoothly and that projects are delivered with a high level of quality. This role reports directly to the Senior Director, Strategy & Growth and is considered to be a high-visibility career accelerating opportunity providing the candidate with an opportunity to work directly with senior leadership and be considered for a broader role in the future. Job responsibilities include: 

    • Project planning & communication: Plan projects and facilitate collaboration, meetings, and deliverables across the organization; communicate scope and responsibilities to stakeholders, and hold parties accountable to strategic goals.
    • Reporting & insights: Partner with General Managers (GMs) to collect and measure project key performance indicators, maintain reporting procedures, and distribute progress reports to senior leadership with regular cadence.
    • Process re-engineering: Identify and champion organization-wide process improvements for the executive team and for the processes that this group is responsible and accountable for (e.g., budget planning, business unit to executive team communication flow, exceeding our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion goals, etc.).
    • Research development: Partner with the President and executive team to develop and disseminate thought leadership by researching and writing persuasive work products. 
  • Ad hoc support: Support a diverse and dynamic set of ad hoc priorities from the President on an ongoing basis.

Additionally, the Special Projects Manager will work with the broader Strategy & Growth team on driving impact across three core areas: 1. Corporate Strategy (e.g., organic growth planning, new product launches, cross-portfolio revenue synergies, etc.), 2. Business Development (e.g., revenue-generating partnerships, vendor deals, etc.), and 3. Corporate Development (e.g., M&A strategy, target sourcing & diligence, board decks, etc.).

The Special Projects Manager role is multi-faceted and requires excellent communication and organizational skills. The ideal candidate has demonstrated both the ability to excel in the face of ambiguity and agility in accessing information across functions and teams.

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of work experience in management consulting, and/or equivalent experience in corporate strategy, tech, investment banking, or general management rotation programs.
  • Authorization to work in the United States. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strategic thinker, with excellent interpersonal skills, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, “start-up” environment.
  • Strong logical structuring and organization skills. 
  • Recently earned MBA / PMP certification is a plus
  • An understanding and affinity for the industry verticals where Ziff Davis plays today
