Overview:

We are seeking an Entertainment Programming Manager to oversee our entertainment video team and ensure the optimization of our video traffic.

Candidates must have strong SEO skills and be prepared to pivot content when needed to maximize traffic performance based on news cycles. Candidates must have an intimate knowledge of the digital space and the entertainment industry with the ability to hit deadlines without fail.

This role requires an expert level mastery of video production as the candidate will not only be noting videos from script to edit, but will also be responsible for creating new video features and franchises that will connect with our audience and push the boundaries of our existing IGN content. The role will be expected to collaborate with Branded Content and Sales leadership on opportunities around content monetization, and collaborate with our social team in creating unique ways to improve overall traffic goals at IGN. Candidates must have a proven track record of accomplishment in leading teams, optimizing video traffic, creating unique and engaging video features, and providing oversight of video departments. 

He or she should be well organized, creative and results-driven. A minimum of 5 years of digital video management is required. This role will report to our Director of Entertainment Video.

 

General Responsibilities:

        Lead, manage and supervise programming and production for IGN’s LA based Entertainment team, with an emphasis on editorial, topical, and original features programming.   

        Oversees the management of entertainment video traffic from features and story selections to traffic strategies on a daily, weekly, and quarterly basis.

        Ensure the success of each video posted utilizing metrics, analytics, and trends in their decision making and must also be versed in the art of headlining.

        Ensure creative and quality benchmarks are met across all phases of production (prep, production and post).

        Work closely with leaders within the organization to manage each project efficiently from pre-production though the show/project launch.

        Oversees pitch meetings for features, junket opportunities, and general feature production.

        Ideate and test around new content on an ongoing basis.

        Mentor team and grow talent within the organization.

        Establish and maintain freelance pool and third-party production partners.

        Stay abreast of new developing digital production technologies, workflows, new tech, and emerging talent.

        Lead development of new and current video series, both big and small, within the Entertainment Video department.

        Frequently interfacing with clients, publishers and developers regarding products under NDA.

        Work with Branded Content and Sales leadership on opportunities around content monetization.

        Collaborate with our social team in creating unique ways to improve overall traffic goals at IGN.

 

Experience Required:

        5+ years of production executive/management experience with an emphasis on unscripted and daily/weekly programming.

        A strong understanding of the digital video production processes across multiple distribution platforms.

        Proficiency in managing all facets of production is a must. Ideal candidate will have a history overseeing scripts, production shoots, and edits.

        Experience in SEO practices and managing YouTube videos.

        Able to work with research & data team to analyze video trends and ensure growth on all platforms.

        Track Record of successfully managing and growing video views on digital platforms.

        Experience building and maintaining an audience at scale

        Must have a proven track record of creating hit programming.

        Knowledge and experience on editorial platforms is a plus.

        Budgeting and Scheduling

        Experience managing a team, establishing process and budget oversight.

        A leader who is organized and assertive.

        Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

        Proven track record of fostering, building and maintaining relationships with key external and internal clients.

        Established relationships in the content and publishing space is a huge plus.

        Experience in high pressure environments with deadline oriented deliveries.

        Experience in working with TV, Movie, and streaming studios.
